Default New NX8925 feeling gritty...

So, my Forza 700 came with 3 NX8925 servo's. One of them feels a bit gritty when moved by hand, the heli has not been flown yet.

When powered up, it will keep producing a high pitch tone until I tap the swash some (it is the elevator servo). If i move the swash with my sticks and apply some pressure I can faintly feel the grittyness.

Does this sound normal, or do I have a dud yet again?

Also, I have been looking for a replacement gear set, and found two partnumbers 05491 or 05395. Does anyone know which is the correct partnumber.

Regards,

Menno

They have a 3 year warrenty I would just get it replaced. Also the high pitched tone is an alarm built into the servo. All nx servos have this. It is for letting you know it is binding or being over powered. I turn my alarms off. I think it is annoying and not really something I need. To do this you need to put the servo in an xbus port on the reciever and go into the servo programming. They are all default at throttle - 01 servo id number. Then go to the alarm setting. There I set mine on 99 with a 2 second delay and that will get rid of that and they will be quiet. Don't change any other settings in the servo as that will mess with the flybarless system.

Also I had an nx servo gritty like that and it turned out to be the motor in it so I would send it in

LaDon,

Just a question for my piece of mind. The grittyness is only there on a particular spot on the servo range of motion. Lets say from 90 to 120 degrees of the arm. This tells me that it's more likely a problem in the gearset or output bearings. Do you agree?

Well it could be. I don't remember if mine was all the way through or not. I just sent it to JR Americas as they have a 3 year warrenty. Travis said it was the motor. I just wouldn't chance a $2500 to $3000 Heli just to find out if it would keep working. Granted they are only one state over for me so it is easy to do.

No I wouldn't either. Time is a small price to pay for that. There is a good chance it was ok just like mine. It was on an aileron on a plane but with it there was two on it so I didn't notice it till we took it off and put them on a Heli. We didn't try it and chance it either

I could imagine that but it's not... servo is on his way...

Learned something today: it is very possible to slide the servo sideways through the mounting holes. Easy as is removing and mounting it...

If I only knew during the initial build... Had the inner part of the servo horn on and that made me disassemble quite a bit the get the servo in...
