Question Flight Battery Weight

I have been flying a mini-p for a year now using 3s 2200mAh packs that weigh in around 185g including the wires and plugs. For me, the heli is tail heavy with that pack on it.

For those of you who have a well balanced mini, what is the weight of your flight packs?

I have been thinking of going up to 4s and was looking at something like this:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html

which have a 239g all-up weight, OR something like this:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html

which have a 275g all-up weight.

FYI, I fly with low headspeed, sport flight, lots of inverted, light flipping, and things like that. Would like to get longer flight times.

I fly with Voltz 6S 1300mah packs. They weigh 216.3g and balance perfectly.

I fly stretch with http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9943

CG is perfect, batteries com down slightly warm. I try to stay away from nano-techs, all of the ones I had puffed, even though I take good care of my packs.

I run hyperion 3s 2600mah weight 213g on a non stretch mini and it's CG is perfect

Does anyone know what battery weight would balance out a stretch mini?

the 2500 4S i use are around the 260-270g mark and balance spot on (though they are fairly high long so cover the whole tray).

Default Another way for 6S

I use another way for easy use of 6S.

I buy 6S 1200mA on Ebay (about 20$ shipping cost include TigerPower).
Change connectors to XT60.
Build a loading platic part to fix additionnal weights to have perfect cog.

It's very easy to build then to fix on heli (easy to set o-rings).

To do :
- black plastic support for car tool shops
- cut it to right size with cutter
- fix 2 black sides scotch at top/bottom of the plastic support
- fix 9*5g plombs for car wheels

Thats's all

you have added 45 grams of dead weight! (plus what ever the tray weighs) This is exactly why I use 2 hyperion vx 35c 1600mah 3 series packs wired as a single pack (one charge lead and no series harness required) My gosh if you are gonna add 45+ grams add it in more battery mah.

Hi, i agree with you of cause !
But lipo pack come from my previous T-Rex 450 Pro 6S... so 0€ cost and nothing to change.

I have already balance connectors 2*3S. I'll use them with bigger capacity pack like Hyperion ones when my current lipo will be dead.

But i just wonder one thing about your 2 packs : it is no too hard to set o-ring or have you changed them to larger ones ???

the hyperions come with a plastic "hanger" I used them at first but they wer then a little loose so I went to home depot I guess it was, anyway's you find o-rings of all kinds of lengths at lowes, home depot, ace hardware etc etc. Not an issue at all

You should be able to get 2x 3s in the 1600 odd mah range that would work. You can even wire them permanently in series if you like.

What kind of flight times would you expect for sport flying on the 6s 1300mAh packs?

I would expect 6-7 minutes using a lower headspeed like 2600-2800.

In normal mode I flight 5.30 minutes and remaining capacity is 35%.

I have the Gens Ace 3S 2200 25C and Nanotech 3S 2200 45C and the Nanotechs are much better. Both weigh the same. Perfect balance with both packs hanging about .5 inch past the front of the battery mount. I hang the heli from Magnet wire tied around the blade grip balls hung from the ceiling

I get 4:30 to 3.7 volts per cell with stock gearing, Gov store and a flat 85% throttle curve. Haven't checked RPM yet, its enough for me though that's for sure!

Batteries are still breaking in too, less than 10 cycles on each of the 7 packs I have.
