Default Pantera Tail Belt Source?

I mean - apart from you, John.

So I'm starting (again) on my on and off Mi-24 Hind scale build, using Stage II Pantera mechanics. Tail will be raised - which means I need a longer belt. How much longer? Don't know yet...

I know from John that the Pantera tail belt is (I believe) an S3M timing belt... Either my Google-Fu is weak... or they're very hard to find.

Anyone have any sources (and yes, I have already checked SDP-SI) out there? Please and thanks!

Correct, metric belt. I 'think' 6mm width...

Why not use a 3mm HTD, GT2 3mm, or GT3 3mm. I use HTD as replacements on my Miniature Aircraft helis and my Airstar mongoose. Much easier to source.

Medic33, is your build using a rasied tail like a bo-105? If so what method are you using to sweep the tail "up"?

I was going to try to explain it words... then I remembered something about pictures being worth something... So here you go:

https://www.helifreak.com/attachment...1&d=1489516910

I can't take credit for the original design - it came from a guy (whose name I now forget) years ago on RC Groups. I used this design on a 4 bladed Trex 450 converted into an AH-64 Apache - in the days before FBL gyro systems... (It didn't... end.. well...)

The BO-105 is one amazing little machine... I think that would be an excellent build!

(What? Oh, right, sorry...)

My Big Russian Gunship has reminded me that he likes to eat scrawny little German helicopter for breakfast.

(Sorry, man, loyalties...)

BTW - just checked. Our Pantera S3M belts are 5mm wide, not 6 as I thought.

Don't worry - I will. I'm going to put up a build thread here on 'Freaks (over in the Scale forum) as well as on ScaleRCHelis. From a scale point of view, the Pantera makes a really good set of mechanics for a couple of reasons:

*Clutch. 'nuff said
*Frame material - John's fiber/plastic is very easy to rework for many fuselages.
*Power capability - the Pantera can be anything from a 30 / 550 size on up to a 7/800, electric or that other power source...
