Default Trex 600 3 Bladed Tail Question

A while back, I came across an outfit that sold three bladed tail units for the Trex 600. However, I forgot the name of the company and have been unable to find it. I believe the company was an American based company.

I came across CNC Helicopter which is not the company I was looking for.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Update.. Found the site..

Yep, RcTek. I have their tri rotor tails on my own 600, my Gob 700, and my Triabolo 800. I also have his boom support in place on my 600. Absolutely superb machining. Zero slop tails, and now with china weight grips. Bob is amazing to work with and his products are one off works of machining art.

Now Trex has a tri rotor tail for under $50 that will work. RcAerodyne has also been selling versions for a long time for scale guys. Yeah, the RcTek heads are pricey. But, that is what you pay for the best of the best.

Highest quality aluminum in the business. Super hard and tough. Very hard to machine. As it eats expensive tooling cutting it. Others use butter soft aluminum that is easy to machine and it bends easily in crashes. Also,Tightest tolerances and unbelievable machine precision. Just don't crash that 500 bro!

Just wanted to add here, I had my hands on the Align tri tail this weekend at a heli meet. The Align tail was actually very well designed and built! Very little grip slop and all around solid performing tail.

Looks like I am ordering one to test out on my own 600 in the next few weeks. For the price? Killer.

So the Align tri blade tail assembly will fit on a 600?
Pls post some pics when you are done.

I have not seen an Align 3-bladed tail rotor for the 600.

I do have an Align 3-bladed tail rotor for the 700 on my Trex 700N. But, it will not fit on a 600 due to the diameter of the of tail rotor drive shaft being smaller.

I also have the RC-TEK 3-bladed tail rotor on my 600E Pro DFC.
Weirdly enough, I had the yoke fail.
All 3 arms on the yoke bent the same degree at the same time as I lifted off.
The heli was about 1' off the ground and went into an uncontrollable pirouette. I hit throttle hold and landed with no damage.
They replaced the yoke at no charge, but it took awhile.

There was no reason for them to bend like this on takeoff.
I could speculate that the servo was too fast or the material was too soft.

None of the blade grips or the tail rotor hub were damaged.
I got the new yoke, reassembled it, and it has been flying great since then.

I am waiting patiently for Align to release the new 3 blade tail for the 550/600 size which they have shown on their facebook page.
Currently I run 105mm tail blades on my 600 to prevent the dreaded tail blowouts which I had happen before with the 95mm blade.
With the 3 blade tail I can go back to 95mm blades. But I see only Zeal at the moment is selling 3 blade tail sets. I prefer Rail tail blades, so I hope Rail will release a 3 blade pack. I am not keen to buy 2 sets of 2 blades and find 3 that match the best.

Here is a pic of the RC Tek unit on my Trex 600L. The machining is a work of art!

Cheers,

Looking good . What tail blades are you running on it? Have you flown it yet?

I dropped down to 85mm tail blades and am using 606mm mains. I have yet to test fly it but I am hopeful I'll get a test flight in the next few days. If for some reason the tail doesn't hold (1250 head speed) I will move back up to the 95mm tail blades.

You will need 95mm blades. The tail power of three 85mm blades will be less than a two blade tail with 95mm blades

606 mains with 95mm tails will be cutting it a bit fine for blade to blade clearance, but maybe 'just' ok, depends how long the grips are on the RC Tek unit.

sawacs: Why do you run 1250 RPM headspeed?
I run the head at 2100 RPM and I have the 4.5:1 tail drive gears on both the 600E and the 600N.

I tried the 85mm blades on my 600E Pro DFC and they didn't help with the tail blowout.
It was just as bad as the 95mm 2-bladed system

However, the 85mm 3-bladed setup worked fine on my Trex 600N Pro DFC.
The nitro does not blowout the tail like the electric does due to the instantaneous torque of the electric.

When I run the 95mm blades on the 3-bladed RC Tek tail, it fully solved the tail blowout on the 600E. This is now just as good as the 105mm blades on the 2-bladed tail rotor.

As far as I know, Align does not make a 3-bladed tail rotor for the 600.
If you know differently, please post a link - I'd like to see it.

Grumpy, I did not realize that three 85's would have less authority than two 95's.. Thank you for pointing that out for me.

Tice,

The reason for the low head speed is because I love flying on the edge along with extended flight times. The buzzsawing around the sky just isn't my cup of tea

Eventually, I plan on running two 6s packs in parallel to see how long I can putz around.

Cheers!
