Default Gaui 425 battery size

After advice folks

Have just received a lovely 425 canopy but it won't fit!

I'm using 1 6s 3000mah lipo, and I can attach the canopy on the 2 lugs but it sits 10mm above the lower peg

Battery is as far back as I can get it

...if you have the under chin piece attached, Remove it...
Place said 3000mah Batt under the chin, turn peg over so it points at the ground...
Should fit fine...my stock FG canopy does...

What I did when I built my 425 was to cut off part of the front frame and attached the "wedge" piece supplied in the kit to the frame. A 6s 2650 fits on there with room to spare under the canopy.

Thanks for your replies

The front of my frame is totally different but I think with a bit of 'modification' as suggested it will fit.

Well guys....

I've tried every which way, on top, underneath, backwards, forwards and sideways and it just will not fit!

I've even cut the front of the frame off forward of the servos and still it wont fit

but on a lighter note, I've fitted the trex 600 landing struts and I think it looks the business

Thanks for the picture Davy. That 600 skid-set looks good. I ordered a black one for mine. I just received the gaui tail servo boom mount to fix my balance issues with 2x 3s2600 lipo's. Now i see in the pictures it does not look look as nice as i had expected :.( perhaps should have gone with the carbon Trex600 boom mount.

About the little peg part underneath. What is its function? Am i supposed to drill a hole in the canopy and use the peg as a third mounting point?

I don't like to contradict but your skids set look like Raptor 30 ones...

I have some on my 550, they make all the difference! :-)

Cheers

There are 2 types (actually I think that it might be 3 types) of skids for T600s - the wide curvy ones that look similar to the Raptor skids and the "triangular" ones that have straight legs.

The HK600 skidset is only $5 or so, so i didn't cancel it. i shall see how it turns out. My flying location is farmland, and that is not always cut short nor an even surface.

Back on topic about the lipo's. If i cut the nose, will this cheap short 6s3000 lump-o-lipo fit in the standard milk jug canopy?

Dimensions: 111x47x45mm
Weight: 455g
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idproduct=8918

It is a lot cheaper than the alternatives. i don't see myself ever getting a field charger, as it is on walking distance and i like to take at least 5 packs to the field when i go.

They are Trex 600 3d cross struts H60040

Much wider than standard and like you say make all the difference!

I'm running the bluelipo 6s 3000mah 20c with the milk jug canopy. Tight but it works.

Hi,
Sorry to move up that old topic but I was try to find a 425 battery topic

I finished my 425 but it is nose heavy with the 2 Turnigy 3S 3000mAh 30C I bought last year(one on top and one below the nose)
.
What battery would you recommand me to buy (I have a 425 canopy aand 550 plastic canopy (both plastic)
Could I fly with these battery?

I don't know if it is possible to fit easily 1 6S in 425 nose, so I think 2 3S is easier (but it appear it is also heavier)
Would 2 2650 30C be ok (total weight 480g to 500g)

I also have the medium boom strech so I could stretch it (still using 425mm blades) if it could help

Thanks for your advice

Default Batts

I have always used 1-6s Batt on my Gaui's...2650mah /3000mah either on top or underneath the front without the angled piece...425/500/550
With a rex 550 canopy you can use the 3000 on top....PT

I started with a 425 and was advised I could stretch to a 500 or 550

The 500 is agile and bit more stable than the 425, the 550 which I went for is awesome! Bit more 'floaty' very stable and quick when you want it to be

I did a tray mod, 1 6s 3000mah pack and have no complaints. Not pretty but canopy on who cares?!!

On my short boomed 425's I run single 6s 2650mah that weigh 408grams and the CG is spot on.

I got the 6s3000mah 25-50C nano-tech, 425grams, with boom mounted tail-servo it balances out (barely) when mounted on the triangle under the nose.
Its a good price, powerful and long flight time compared to other pack i have.

Im not sure yet about longevity of those. Testing continues
