Hi,

if you have an USB2SYS interface you can upgrade your MICROBEAST PLUS/PLUS HD to Version 4.0 with the latest StudioX software now.

You can get it here:

http://wiki.beastx.com/index.php/Stu...rly_Adopter/en

Please note that the upgrade is not for free.

have fun

Stefan,
Where can we find more details on the new features introduced by Ver 4.0 and the pricing for the upgrade?

Also, does the Ver 4.0 converts MicroBeast PLUS into MicroBeast PLUS PRO? Is it the same Hardware and only the Firmware is upgraded to make MicroBeast PLUS into a MicroBeast PLUS PRO?

Thanks,
Rico.

Hi,

Microbeast PLUS Pro-Edition is not different but the firmware. It just comes with AttitudeControl/Governor function preinstalled and you get a printed manual.

Version 4.0.0 is offered with Governor only for 19Euros or with Governor+AttitudeControl for 99Euros (time limited offer).

The basic functionality is similar to Microbeast Version 3.2.0.

The Governor can be used for electric and nitro/gas helicopters. It has built in soft start and
autorotation bail out function. The control it quite similar to electric speed controllers with governor function, so you simply set your throttle curves as switches for "motor off", "headspeed 1", "headspeed 2", "autorotation bailout". Optional the nitro governor can be also used in classic style with a separate switch for govenor/rpm control.

The AttitudeControl overs different modes of self leveling. These are Bailout rescue mode, 3D-Mode and Flighttrainer mode with angular limitation. Basically when you activate the AttitudeControl it will turn you helicopter back to level position if you release the sticks. Some modes offer to additionaly apply collective pitch input and lock your thrust stick in the ground direction. So the unit will turn your helicopter and keep it leveled in hovering flight regardless of how the pilot moves the stick.

I will update our BEASTX wiki soon with additional information. At the moment we are preparing for Nuremberg Toy fair which will start on Thursday.

For the nitro governor function, will it be able to use the Spektrum back plate sensor?

That's all great, I would love to get one but for what I gather the price is probably going to be from $300 to $350, why not get an Ikon.

For one, this is a selective upgrade, so if you already have a beastx it's ~$100 upgrade (not 300/350), and two, if I'm understanding correctly, it isn't just self-leveling (like an iKon), but also stability mode and bailout.

An intriguing development in fbl; I'm looking forward to hearing more about it.

Thank you Frenchdress. Could you explain 3D-mode in attitudeControl, I am confusing about 3D-mode and rescue mode, what are they different?

Hi,

the difference is quite easy to explain:
In rescue mode the helicopter will always be turned back to normal hovering position, no matter in which position the helicopter is at the moment.

Using the 3D - Mode, Microbeast PLUS will turn to the heli to the closest postion: inverted hover or upright hovering flight.

So rescue is typically used, like it says, for rescuing the heli when the pilot looses orientation and/or wants to save the heli from a crash. 3D mode on the other hand can help you for training of 3D maneuvers, like inverted hovering or doing flips or rolls. You can keep the AttitudeControl switched on at a very low gain and override it, when giving stick inputs. As soon as you let the sticks go, the heli will level itself. Of course you can also use this mode for a rescue, it's not really different from the above, but I think for a "real" rescue it's better to always turn the heli into the same position.

Not sure if you've seen this video? Here my friend Marcel from France shows how you may use the 3D - Mode when doing 3D maneuvers:

Microbeast plus PRO Edition rattrapage automatique (3 min 29 sec)

Just a quick note to avoid any possible confusion, it should be noted that Marcel is flying mode 4, and in addition has also got self centering on throttle stick. Marcel explained this, a little while ago, in the main forum, and it has nothing to do with the fucntionality, it is simply that this is how he likes to fly.

Might save someone wondering, if they haven't looked over there in the main forum.

Cheers

Sutty

EDIT: Removed RANT.

I wasn't expecting to have to pay for the upgrade. Perhaps it's my own fault for assuming, but it wasn't written anywhere that I saw before purchasing the Plus.

The Plus on it's own, flies really great, better than the original and is the same (or lower depending on where you get it) price as the original. The Pro upgrade is worth paying for if you want those features, and if you feel the price is right. I would have like to see it a little less, maybe $50 US, but that's a different story.

Sorry for over reacting, it was just that I felt a little like Santa didn't come on Christmas morning. I was VERY excited to get the new firmware and the cost took my totally by surprise.

Default Microbest Plus PRO is comming...(governor, rescue...)

If I'm reading that correctly, v4 doesn't fly any different. The options are 20 for the gov or 100 for gov plus Attitude.

BTW, good luck finding that feature set in another FBL unit for a lower price.

I'm not saying I wouldn't have paid a bit more for the plus up front, but to have been waiting for the update only to find it the cost is 50% of the initial purchase. I wish there would have been some indication of that when I bought it.
