Post What are you looking for in your next heli kit?

I noticed there are only a few heli makers offering heli kits. While there are several companies that attempt to enter the market, yet fail to get a toe hold in a competetive market.

I dont mean manufacturers who's kits qualify as "best of the best". What I'm asking is, what does it take to keep a heli company "in the game?"

I was following a recent thread from the Wfly company that had an upcoming 500 size heli (425mm blade) product launch. Not sure what happened, but it seems the Wfly company hasnt succeeded in establishing itself.

Just to offer something in contrast, and this is just my opinion from the cheap seats, is the Mini Titan. It achieved a significant following in both the V1 and V2 offerings, and from what I read, is a very good beginner/intermediate platform.

My question is, what are you looking for in a new heli kit? What would convince you to pull the trigger on a heli company you've never bought from before?

And heres the fun part, should an aspiring heli company offer performance/CNC upgrades for other helis to establish a reputation for quality (for example: KDE) before its initial kit offering?

Default What are you looking for in your next heli kit?

Low parts count, simple design(as in almost buildable without a manual), quality, documentation(what blades and tailblades work, what setups, any known issues) and last but not least customer service. I was going to write out what I mean by all that, but my post was getting way too long and I think it's obvious what I mean anyway.

The most important thing to me is looks, a heli can fly good but if it looks like I won't like it. Then I look for flight characteristics, customer support, quality, that a lot of people have it but that not everyone has it like Align, simple design, low parts count, that a lot of vendors that I order from carry parts, that it's not overpriced and that there isn't something new for the helicopter always around the corner because then I'd have to buy an upgrade every now and then which would kill me. All of the above have to be satisfied but the low parts count and simple design aren't really as important as the other aspects.

I'm looking for a winning Lotto ticket in my next Heli kit. I will keep buying kits until I find one. Then I will buy more kits!
