Yep my videos are "locked in time" and things progress. But for the 600 they are still relevant for most the build.

BoB, I think you fly great. Just the style I want to be able to fly when I get the hang of things. Long sweeping turns, with that cool blade sound, flips and rolls, inverted and so on.. 3d is cool to watch, in small amounts, but I'm too old for that stuff myself . . So keep it up m8, with vid’s and flight reports..

This is not a video showing complete assembly but is an over of the system. Installation should be the same as belt drive and should be EASY following my build videos below as it is like the belt drive and tail assemblies
Trex600 Shaft Drive Overview (55 Megs)

The regular build vids are below

Check out the announcement video here:
Trex 600 announcement video

First up:

Kit Contents Overview
What's in the box!! (18 Megs)

VIDEO -> Steps 1 and 2 - Blade grips and head (18 Megs)

NOTE! The flybar supplied is now 440mm instead of 400mm as used in my video. Please be aware of this for the measurements I give for paddle distance!
VIDEO -> Step 3 - Seesaw and flybar (50 Megs)

VIDEO -> Steps 4, 5 & 6 - Head, washout, and swash plate (20 Megs)

VIDEO -> Steps 7 & 8 - Main gear and frames (25 Megs)

VIDEO -> Step 9 - Tail Drive Assembly (10 Megs)

VIDEO -> Steps 10 & 11 - Trays, Motor mount, and Control arms (20 Megs)

VIDEO -> Steps 12 - Landing Gear (9 Megs)

OK folks. At this point for ease of video purposes I am skipping steps 13 through 16 (tail and tail rotor) and going to 17 servo install and head set up. I will return to these steps near the end.

VIDEO -> Servo Install and linkage setup (44 Megs)

VIDEO -> Head and link setup (30 Megs)

VIDEO -> Installing the motor and setting the pinion (15 Megs)

VIDEO -> Installing the electronics (38 Megs)

OK I will now be going back to page 13 and doing the tail of the heli and this will include setting up the servo.

VIDEO -> Tail boom, tail case, and tail shaft (30 Megs)

VIDEO -> Tail pitch slider and tail hub (22 Megs)

VIDEO -> Boom supports and fins (22 Megs)

VIDEO -> Tail servo and gyro setup (35 Megs)

OK basically that is it! I hope you all enjoy the build vids and please feel free to give feedback!
The below vid is just some final comments nothing big. I moved the ESC to the other side of the heli due to the antenna routing as I did this build without the skids on and after placing the skids I realized it was not good to have the ESC close to the antenna.

VIDEO -> Final comments (6 Megs)

VIDEO -> How to mount the flight power 4900 to the Trex600 (19 Megs)

Well I hope you all enjoyed this as much as I did doing the vids!

Enjoy,
Bob
Can you please sent me a video how to ballance the blades of the t rex 600 nitro chopper.

OK, so i followed the manual per install and then found these videos...my heli is pretty much complete, all servos installed etc...where at on the head should the swash be when setting up the blade pitch etc etc...now that i have everything installed and put together, im lost on setup and i have watched so many videos trying to figure it out. One video i watch on dx7 setup says to have the head setup first, and the head video i watch needs the radio to be setup...please help!

You want your Tx to be at center stick when doing mechanical setup. Make sure all your linkages are square and the blades have 0deg. pitch.

I don't rely on the link lengths printed in the manual for setup. I usually test and adjust my linkages so that I can maximize the collective pitch range and then dial it back electronically w/ the swash mix if it's too much. IIRC, the swash should be about 17-18mm above the frames at center stick.

I just got my TREX600 ESP, there's a stand off for the 2 front cyclic servos that needs 2.6mm x 6 mm self tapping screws. I didn't find any 2.6mm x 6. I only found four 2.4mm x6 mm screws, so I though these are the ones. I'm wondering if I use these might be wrong? I like to build my helis right, and this is bothering me a lot.

Thanks!

Default 600E Needs More Power

I am just starting to learn 3D flying but my 600E CF seems a bit short on power, it has the old BL600L motor. Can you tell me if the 650L motor would make a big difference and if so would I also need the Align 100 amp ESC as my one is only 75 amp.
I beleive this motor has a lower KV, so which pinion would I need with the 170T main gear.
I would like to keep to 6S but is there a better setup than the above.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

I went with a neu 1515 2.5 y heli motor and it certainly has a lot of extra power over the stock, runs cooler and is a straight fit

The Neu is a great choice, but it is quite a bit more expensive than the 650L. The 650L is a nice upgrade, though I wouldn't recommend the Align ESC, there's quite a few reports of failures w/ those lately. If you're on a budget and planning to stick w/ 6s packs, go w/ the Castle ICE 100 instead or the Kontronik Jive 100+ LV if cost is no object. If you're thinking about building a 10s or 12s setup in the future, go w/ one of the HV ESC's instead so you won't have to upgrade later.

As far as gearing the 650L, a 14T would be equivalent to the 10T on the stock motor, a 15T will give you a little more headspeed, and remember the 650L has a 6mm shaft. The Neu would use the same gearing as the stock motor.

Bob,
Great vids, they helped me w/ some of the build issues I've found with thr Trex 600.
Although I have build around 15 Nitros & Gassers now, this was my first Electric, and we can always learn something from each other. Appriciate your taking the time to do these Vids, as I am sure lots of folks can learn from them!
Thanks again,
Vetteguy

Hello Bob and all other Helifreaks:

I have a new 600ESP, I have built other Helicopters (Nitro) but this is the first 600E. In order to get the Seesaw arms parallel and the Washout arms parallel I had to shorten the link rods around 3-4 mm. Usually Align meassuments are very close to what they need to be, is this normal? I notice that SHAUN ask the same questions but I could not find an answer. I do have 0 pitch at 50% and the arms are parallel.

Please let me know,

Hi Bob,
Just built a Trex 500 using your super Build Videos.
I am just about to start a Trex 600 ESP. Do you cover this one anywhere?
Cheers,
Cloud 9.

I did a build video on the 600E which for the most part is like the newer 600 ESP. Some things are different as you will find but the principles are the same!

Thanks Bob.
Your videos make such a difference. They make what appears to be a daunting task so straightforward.
Now to make a start on the 600.

600 ESP build coming along nicely but just a question:
There don't seem to be any rubber canopy spacers like on the 500.
The canopy seems to be a bit wobbly.
Is this correct?
Any advice greatly appreciated..
