Default Do you use the R clips to hold on your canopy?

Just wondering how many use the supplied R clips to hold on their canopy? I do not use them as the rubber grommets feel very tight! but i know they will get loose over time

The first time your canopy hits your blades you may re think about how tight they were... Use the clips or replace with RCBooya type mounts, it's not worth trashing your heli over it.

I've used nothing but the rubber on all my aligns. Never a problem. They need to be replaced once in a while.

Backwards flight can make the canopy balloon or parachute causing it to come off. I've seen a couple hit the blades. If you fly light you probably will be fine. I flew my nitro, which is covered in oil, this way for a long time but then I started coming down with one side undone so now I am chicken. I fly with the back two clipped so it can't parachute but the front two are fine no clips.

P.S. I didn't vote I don't have a 700e only the 700n

I use the Helioption locking canopy mounts on the back and the Tarot metal grommets on the front, with no R clips.

Helioption now do a 12.5mm canopy mount for the 700 DFC:

I currently don't use those pins, but I an looking for an alternative to replace them. They are a bit of a pain to install.

If you don't want to be messing around with the pins, then go with RC Booya canopy mounts, can't beat the quality and support.

The reason I went with the Helioption ones is because they work with the canopy protectors. So you can just remove the current grommet and insert the Helioption one.

I run at least 2 of the pins. I just attach them diagonal, one up front and one on the rear on the other side.

It is not completely necessary to use the R clips in the front but you definitely need to use these in the rear posts. If you do any high speed backwards flying then you run a high risk of popping one the back ones off. When one of these pops and it gets thrown into the blades it's a pretty exciting event that never turns out very good for the heli. You will definitely be kicking yourself in the butt for destroying a 1200+ dollar heli for a 2 cent part..... I put a 4" wire tie through mine and create a little handle on the back of the clip which makes them easier to handle and you don't lose them when they fall to the ground.

Hope this helps....

I use Tenax clips from tenax24.de - I use the TO-01SwC - they fit anything from 550 onwards and the original align stand-off

its almost impossible to pull them off with force, so this is what you get:

top left: the key to lock the clip in place
top right: the clip on the original Align standoff
bottom left: the backplate of the clip
bottom right: the head button of the clip with the pull button
the backplate as well as the head do have small teeth so they bite into the material a bit

With stock posts, definitely use at least 2 clips on the rear posts.
