discharge and charge
I have looked everywhere and my brain is now smoking.
I have a 1000mah 3s 30c lipo. I know what the max charging amps it can handle. now when I go to discharge my pack my charger goes from .1 to 2.0 amps. what should I be ideally be setting my discharge rate at in amps. is 1 amp OK for discharging? |

It may not actually discharge at 2A. The limitation is usually heat dissipation in the charger, and nearly all chargers are not really set up to handle it. But, yes, setting it to discharge at 2A is fine. (That's just 2c, and it's rated for 30c.)
I normally don't use the "discharge" setting on my charger. (The risk is completely discharging them if you don't have a mechanism to prevent that.) Just set them to "storage charge" assuming you have a setting for that. The charger will then either charge or discharge (whichever is needed) to achieve about 3.82v per cell, which is good for short or long term storage. You can use that on both flown batteries and those that are charged but not flown. (And if I am planning to fly them next day, I will usually just leave them charged.)

As noted above, discharge rate is almost always limited by your charger, not your battery. In this case the battery is theoretically good for a 30A discharge current... So just set it as high as the charger will go, and as already stated, use the 'storage' function, not the discharge function.

when in doubt use the battery in what its ment for. all chargers are different and as they have said it goes by heat. discharging takes forever. so its gonna be easyer to use it then storage charge it in the long run. that's what I do with my 1/8 scale buggy batteries

yup I figured all that out now. I just got a new charger and wanted to figure it all out. I appreciate it and I'm only going to be using the balance charge and the storage feature for now. thank's for all the helpful replies I appreciate it.
