Leave the inner race of the thrust bearings in both the main and tails in, trust me.. They are a PITA to get out and not needed. When you want to get the tail bearings out, heat up the grip a bit and smack it against a rubberized hard surfaced and they will fall out. If you still something in there to try and knock them out, the thust bearings are kind of soft and get deformed easily.

Otherwise, everything else has been documented and is fairly straight forward. Make sure to use red loctite on pretty much anything from the main shaft back..they WILL come loose with blue..

Default Update 1

Alright guys.. I'm on Page 13 of the manual and I've only had one minor hang up, but NOTHING that diminishes the fact that this thing is SWEET! Here's the deal so far:

- Found an error on page 11 of the manual. Page 8 has two 10mm bolts and one 8mm bolt going through the back brace set. Then when you're doing the right side of the assembly on page 11.. The illistration has you using three 10mm bolts vice two 10mm and one 8mm like on Page 8. Nothing serious, but I was looking for a left over 10mm bolt and there wasn't any! But there was an 8mm! Then I went back to page 8 and poof! Found the mistake.

Overall nothing to really report and I'm 1/3 through the build. This of course is the easiest part of the assembly. Moving on...

the build actually goes very smooth. I only had to reference this thread a couple times.

Default Temporary FIX for pitch link binding on the Gaui X7

To those concerned about possible binding of the main grip pitch links and the swash driver, here is a solution that works well and is easy to install. Until Gaui comes back with a permanent solution, this eliminates the binding.

All you need is a cutting wheel (or Xacto), two extra plastic main grip pitch links, and 10 minutes of free time.

So Gaui are working on a permanent solution or are we hoping they are? I really hope they are as i had an opportunity to see X7 in person and was extreme impressed... Its one solid machine but appears to have a bit of an Achilles heel i.e. swash driver..

Default Transmission backlash

Hello guys.
I am already a lucky owner of X5 fbl + Robbe HC3 and now I tried for the first time the X7 + HeliJive Kontronik 120 HV + HC3 SX.

What I would like to ask you now is how to evaluate and how to adjust transmission backlash:

a) pinion engine - 100T main gear
b) 66T crown gear - 14T front bevel gear
c) "coupling" between bevel gears (14T front and 20T tail) and transmission torque tube . heads.
d) 20T tail bevel gear - 20T tail driven bevel gear

How you adjust all these?

After the first flight I noticed that the main crown white appeared as a "filing / fuzz" at the root of the helical teeth, just where the pinion works at the stage of "meshing tooth" ... is that normal?

The 'coupling" c) that actually is not adjustable...."cross-joint" between torque tube head and bevel gears seems to me too exaggerated!
We are sure that there is nothing to be glued with epoxy there?

Thanks so much, I hope to collect useful information !

Diego

P.S. excuse me for my bad writing!

Congrats man!! You got it, no battery tray. I just velcro the packs to the middle divider and then use the included velcro straps to hold them in. Never had an issue and it's easy!
