Default Takumi 700size

Anyone saw in facebook a new heli called TAKUMI?

Like the way how to motor placed . It was not up or down but horizontal? I know not many helis design this way...

Its looks cool too.

Yeah, Yuri Katom on Facebook has made it, a complete one off I believe, with some sponsorship from Boca to help with the bearings.

Very interesting design, he's said he'll be sharing some more details in the next week or two.

Not a one off, he is busy with the prototype and IF successful he will manufacture in limited numbers as another "boutique" heli. Very innovative drivetrain with full carban fuselage.

Yuri is local to me and has been working very hard on this.
The quality of finish on the canopy and boom is incredible.
Looking forward to his maiden as soon as he finishes up the last bits.

Very talented guy.

Well this certainly deflated the hype Zeppelin from that other "boutique" German heli...

I'm assuming there isn't any "torque steer" with this arrangement?

What's the main reason why one would choose to mount the motor horizontally instead of vertically in this application?

Just speculating...
1. more compact frame height wise
2. more room for battery/electronics
3. keeping motor weight around the center on the roll axis
4. compact transmission

Of course this is all hear say until we can really look in to the heli and hear from the designer himself. But those are just a few things off the top of my head...

I remember awhile back someone was posting they were bored with the current selection of pod and boom helis. Wonder if the latest crop of new designs will bring back the excitement? Can't wait to see what's next.

those pics have to be from the 2015 rotorquest sponsored heli meet was it a weekend or so ago, Kyle Dahl/Stacy were at it doing some flights and a dude in a takumi "t" walks into screen for a minute, and the background of the first pic shows the rq pit's set up.

let's see behind the black mask. I believe the motor config has been extensively used in turbine helis, I see helical gears in the alu housing, like in a car rear axle, regardless, nice work so far, and the blades too, that's got to be some 100% tow there from the reflexion (reflection I know, blade coulda been called "Reflexion", (mebe I do dat).

In this day and age "boutique " must mean in the hundreds, while production beyond that and just getting to a hundred can be a undertaking, if you got time.

I wanna see more, inside, pleeeeze, lol. it's inevitable, cheers., and nice weave work, that dude is ready.

This thing is freaking sick!!!!! I may have said that already. This is the sexiest heli to show up in a while. I would love to see this come to market. It's georgeous. Who cares if that motor config is anything other than just different. It's neat looking for sure. I want one! Please bring this bad boy to IRCHA. I want to caress it and undress it!
