Thanks guys. I felt that the way I was supporting the door edges would not be the best method of being able to tweak it in the event the door warps in the future.I took another look at it and decided to keep the lower support and take the window shape and reform it so it continued around the outer portion of the door. Remember, the wire frame is not at the edge of the door but near the edge of the door interior. The finished door will overlap the canopy just as the original does. These wire frames are tacked into place with CA and later, Hysol will be formed around the wires to fully bond them to the door. Take care.

I put aside the doors for a while so I could start the window fitting process. I removed a lot of material at the back of the upper window and took a large amount from the cheek window frame area. To me, this had always looked like an "E" model with a "D" model glassworks. Even that was all that I had done up to about a week ago when I began the landing gear fairings. Those had dogged me from the beginning as I had no good solid way to make them up. Metal might have worked just fine but I was bugged by how it would be attached. Even these are a bit fragile at the back but then, so are the originals. I plan to make some more of the panel doublers this evening and maybe get out to the flying field if the weather permits tomorrow. Take care.

Work is seriously cutting into my building time, lol. I took Friday off and did about 12 hours on the raised panels as well as redoing the right side landing gear fairings. Yesterday, I got the last large hole filled in on the underside of the body by using some donated panel from the crashed TOW Defender. When I get home from some test flying, I will sand the bottom down and maybe look at opening up the rear doors. I am really trying to get the mechanics installed before I head to Florida for a scale fun-fly but I won't take it if it is not in flying condition. Take care.

I got the air vent hole finished tonight and did a few rivet lines for good measure. The square that is partially into the patch will be one of two boxes that are on the bottom of the fuselage. I have no idea what they were but there is a conduit that runs from the fuselage ahead of the first box and then through the first to the second. I took a few pictures of the body as it now sits and with some luck, I will get the rear doors removed and the internal woodwork for the seat system started by Friday. Well, I can be optimistic, can't I, lol? Take care.

And speaking about doors having to go, they're gone. Today, I hit a long sought after goal and that was to transform my body kit and mechanics into an RC Helicopter. There is a lot of internal work to do and the plan is to have the bench seats removable and a weapons system ready to install at a moment's notice, just as the originals were setup. The main objective it to be able to place this model in front of the original and have it match right down to the half finished interior, lol. I will setup a temporary battery tray so I can fly it during the summer and work on the cockpit as I go. The new TOW Defender nose, which will donate the doors to this model, will be swapped on for fun flying. I might even get the old interior fixed up enough to put a couple of pilots inside for fun. I bought them from a store about 25 miles from here called Toy Square. The largest online stores that I know of are called Monkey Depot and Black Ops Toys, which are in the US. They average 150 to 200 US each, lol. If you look online, you will find all sorts of 1/6th scale dolls that are way less expensive and yet still get the job done. Accessories are what make or break them, civilian or military, so it is best to buy the basic type you want and then get some good quality add-ons to finish off the look. I did so with two pilots I had in my AS350. They cost me 10 dollars each from Toys R Us and I outfitted them with left over items from my first two figures and that made all the difference. Hope this helps.

I got the rear floor installation done this weekend. I installed it in two parts and spent a lot of time getting the shape right so that it dropped into place without distorting the body. I had two Hysol watching parties but it was well worth it. Next is the bench seat which should be in four parts for removal and then comes the weapons system just for fun. I really like the look of the M134 and 2.5" rocket pod on each side. That will be fun, lol. Take care.

Well, time to resurrect a nearly dead thread, lol. I got some time to make a temporary battery mounting tray that will allow me to fly this as I build the cockpit. I will use either the remains of the door donating nose of the TOW Defender body kit or fix up the old one so it can hang on for dear life. This will give me all sorts of time in the air to get better with it and not put a new cockpit in jeopardy. The winds were 35km gusting to 50 so I was all over it and it handled like a true champion. Don, it has been a while. Sorry I couldn't make it to Tampa as I was waiting for a back surgery. Any progress on this beauty? I am finally able to start getting around and am getting the bug to start building again . I was able to test fly my 500E before the operation and it flew flawlessly, even pulled off a loop on the maiden flight ! You would have been thrilled lol.

Good to hear you are getting back at it. I presume your back surgery went well and on that line, my cataract is no more. Depth perception has been hell for the last few years and it really caught up with me in Florida. I am looking at the MH-6 every day but it is a matter of getting my butt in gear and doing something on it. First, the room needs to be cleared out a lot so I have room to swing the body around.
