Not the same yard I've enjoyed so many times

Looks like you may have to fire up an 800 to do some yard cleaning.

Glad none of your big trees came down

I was thinking the same thing about Richards beautiful yard Mel.

Oh well, it can be cleaned up, we need to think about and pray for those people that are more severely affected by Irene, including our brother Rich of course.

I hope things are go okay for you throughout the day Rich.

Rich I hope that all you have to deal with is leaves and debris. This is not a good thing for the east coast. I imagine in the aftermath, the hardest people to find in the entire U.S. will be the insurance adjusters. I suspect they are spending a lot of time figuring out how to screw people out of their claims at the moment.

Hey Rich! Is Castle East still in communication? The news was reporting that Long Beach got smacked pretty good by Irene. Our best wishes to all the folks affected.

CNN is already telling the story about insurance companies.

It will take more than the shaking pillars of the earth or the temperamental winds of an over grown summer shower to hamper the exploits within the walls of the Castle East

Glad to hear you are okay, Richard. We just got our electricity back this evening (it's been out since yesterday morning). I was going through HF withdrawals!!!

Richard is not worried about losing electricity. I am sure he has a "backup" generator all setup to run the Castle.

If the "backup" generator were to fail by some odd chance, I am quite sure he is setup with a "backup" to the "backup".

I would venture to say... quite a few Lipo's wired up in such a way that he could easily run the Castle.

After receiving a recorded telephone call from the power company this morning stating that the power would not be restored until Thursday, I went and got a "backup" generator only to have the power come back on after getting home with it.

Now you have something to take with you to the field to charge your packs while out there.

Aram,
A backup generator is just like an insurance policy, you pay good money for it and hope and pray you never need to use it.

I've had mine for the better part of 23 years and only needed it once in that time... still looks and runs like brand new.

So it's not wasted money.... And as Brian said you now have a genny for the field

And the best part was that it was my wife's idea to buy the generator!

That's kind of like being told to go out and buy a new pressure washer or that you deserve to have a bigger helicopter.

She hasn't mentioned a matched (amp wise) Lipo charger, has she?
We all know the generator is only a half of the equation here...

Default It lives!!!!!

I just finished the build of my TRex 550E FBL about an hour ago. All that is left is to take it to the LHS tomorrow for its "blessing". That is where the physical build gets the once over, the electronics get fine tuned and the maiden happens.

Yes, there will be pics this time. This thing is huge when I put the 450 beside it. Just for the heck of it, I pulled out my MCX and MCPX for comparison. Either one can easily fit inside the canopy of this thing, I can't wait to get it in the air.

Default The Blessing

I arrived at my LHS this morning to have my build of the 550E FBL blessed. As it worked out, there were two 550's to be blessed this morning. The first bird was built by the LHS owner and second was built by myself. I truly lucked out with the timing. This morning's blessing was attended by the same 3D Master that I was fortunate enough to have give me field pointers a few weeks ago. He was there for the entire day donating his time for blessings.

The event became a bit of an assembly line affair. The LHS owner took the first station. He checked out wiring and connectivity. He also went over the basic build. The 3D Master took over the second station. He set up the 3GS units, checked the pitch, checked the servo operations and configured the DX7's. Finally, he took the birds out for the maiden.

Coincidently, both birds had the same problems during the build. The tail assembly had problems with binding in the pitch linkages. The linkages had to be completely disassembled and cleaned. There was liberal usage of very fine emory paper to get rid of rough spots. Both birds had problems regarding the number of shims required for the main shaft. The ones supplied were not thick enough. Ironically, the ones supplied by Align as parts were thicker and worked well. I was surprised that the 550E required the use of four different size hex drivers and a Phillips.

I was pleased to find out that my LHS has at least five more blessing of Align 550E birds coming up this month.

As promised, there are pics;

Something to be advised about...

There have been reports of the 3GX resetting during flight...be careful

If all else fails go with the BeastX V3....flies like a dream
