Default How do you mount/hold your fuselages for painting?

A friend of mine is going to paint my 600 size AS350 scale fuselage, and I need to come up with a method to mount/hold the fuselage during the process. He's an airplane guy, and this will be the first time he paints a heli fuselage.
I was thinking of using a 1" wooden dowel through the tail boom. That should work if I can find a way to make sure the fuselage does not rotate around it on its own. But what about the removable front (canopy)? The two parts need to be separated during painting to prevent them from sticking together, and to paint he flange where they connect.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Make a "rotisserie" for it so you can paint the bottom easily. I masked off and painted the flanges first. used a heat gun to flash the paint, put the nose on and went for it.
This is how I painted my 600 size 500C. This is after clear coat.

Thanks!

I am working on a crashed Roban Super Scale HH-60 Jayhawk and will be doing the re-paint in a couple of weeks. I will be making one to fit this one as well using an old engine stand to support the pipe and be able to rotate it with little effort. This thing is big! Besides, it will be a good reason to clean out my shed and make a proper (somewhat) paint booth. The 500C was shot outside, then brought inside to my airbrush paint booth to be covered and the exhaust fan turned on to draw out dust ect.

Hey there. Could you please explain "flash the paint" in reference to utilizing a heat gun? Do you mean essentially just giving it a quick blast of heat to quicken the drying proceas?

Basically yes. Don't hold the gun too close as the fiberglass gets hot very guick.
