Default PWM for greatest efficnency with 800MX 440kv

Anyone know how PWM will effect the efficiency of a 440KV 800MX with a YGE 120A? Looked everywhere online and could fine very little information on this and what I did find was always about MAXIMUM POWER OUTPUT HURRR HURRR. I don't care about maximum power output I'm more interested in what will yield the lowest temps and best efficiency.

I can't speak for the 800mx 440kv, but for my 850mx 490kv, 12khz PWM and low timing was the most efficient and ran the coolest, I can only imagine similar for that motor.

What ESC were you using? "Low" timing on e.g. castle ESCs really doesn't directly translate to YGEs. For example scorpion motors that recommend 5 degrees timing (with Scorpion ESCs) need 18 degrees timing on a YGE. This is because the ESC has no real idea what the angle of the poles vs the stator arms actually is, it's using an algorithm to switch the coils on and off based on the back EMF from the motor so the "timing" used by different manufacturer's ESCs differs because it's essentially just a made scale used to tweak the parameters of the algorithm.

I always set PWM to the highest value supported by the ESC. Only if the ESC got too hot would I think about lowering it. With the YGE default (18 degree) timing almost always works well but if it's the absolute most efficient I've never done the testing to find out. You could also try the 'Auto'. timing setting.
You have to be careful about going too low with timing because the motor can fall out of sync with the ESC under high load, which will fry the motor and/or ESC.
