Default Loose magnets on Align 600MX

I've searched the topic of loose magnets on a 600MX. A few posts suggest to glue the magnets in place. I believe someone used Loctite 410. Not sure if that's what it's called. Has any one out there gotten good results when you glue the magnets back in place? How critical is the spacing between the magnets? I was going to measure the spacing between the magnets and attempt to make sure they're all even as possible.

Other posts say they just bought new motors. Since the magnets seems to be the only issue w/the motor as far as I can tell, I was hoping to save it from the trash. It's in a converted Hirobo Shuttle, so the investment in the heli isn't like my Trex 600.

My old 600MX had loose magnets after close to 2000 flights. IMO this motor is not worth your time fixing as power is not very good to begin with, plus mine and many others' motors were quite unbalanced out of the box.
If you decide to spend time to fix it though, do take care on accurately gluing the magnets in place. Spacing has to be important both for the operation of the motor as well as the balance of the bell as it's spinning at very high speed. You will never be able to balance the motor correctly if the magnets are not in the correct spot.

Heli.Maniac,

Thank you for your input. I've started a search for a replacement motor, but haven't decided if I'll end up w/a new motor or not yet. I'm looking for a decent motor for under $80 if possible.

I used a Gartt motor for over a year in my 600 without any problems.

Thanks for the input. I haven't heard of Gartt, I'll consider a look.

I've got a Gartt in my 550 and its good. I've also re-glued magnets in large motors, but not for a heli. Magnets in a 4250 600kv outrunner came loose so I carefully put some thin CA on them. It wicks in behind the magnet. The motor has been fine ever since. I'm always carefully not to let it get to hot as most glues will melt at some point.

Thanks for the input. I saw the Gartt motors on ebay. I almost bought one. Right now my old truck is needing big $$ for repair. So that heli is grounded for awhile. Unless I glue something. I believe I'll give it a try and test the motor before trying to fly it.

Well I got over the hurdle of getting my truck fixed. I attempted to glue the magnets. I tried someone's idea of using baking powder w/ca between the magnets. One thing is for sure, if it's done right I can see where it's a good idea to help keep the magnets in place. However, I didn't have success w/that. The problem I had was the clearance between the rotor and stator was compromised. I think the powder was too thick and rubbed the stator.

I thought the motor was powerful enough to overcome the restriction. The motor became a nice hand warmer!

Anyway, I just ordered a new Gartt motor.
Time to work on something else until the motor arrives.
