Default Fan Shroud warps.

Hi guys, is there any way to prevent the fan shroud from warping over time which causes the fan to rub on it. It warps towards the inside around the top opening. This is the 2nd time I've had to replace both. On the last shroud install, I put a little scotch tape around the metal inserts in the shroud. This time I'll put more tape around the inserts so they are very tight.

Is it fuel, oil, and a little heat that causes the warping?

First time I have heard of that. I am still running my original 68 gallons worth...I will look into this.

Thanks for the quick response JC. Here's a pic of where it rubs the fan. The last fan that did this was runs all the way around.

Here is a pic of the top shroud. It looks like it curves down in the opening.

I'm building a NX7 since last summer and I finally got a chance to get it running yesterday.

Anyway... long story short, my plastic fan melted to the plastic shroud from rubbing. I knew it was rubbing, but thought it would break in like these other instances. It melted together so well that it would not allow the engine to turn. The engine only idled for 2-3 minutes.

FYI - This is a previously owned heli.

Think that as the plastic ages it may warp over time, but I noticed it rubbed for the previous owner.

Oh well, gonna order a new fan and shroud.
