Torque tubes don't automatically mean high vibes.
I didn't mean absolute high values, I mean't relative when you compare the two. If I am wrong I stand corrected. Look at the SAB Goblins and MSH Protos that run belts even from the motor to the main rotor, look at how smooth they are. If I am wrong I agree to be corrected, I learn from all of you guys. But as has been mentioned, it is good to have options, I would like to have the torque tube version as well and experience it.

Sounding smooth and being smooth are not the same. Belts flap and slap around all the time from the constant rapid changes in torque load. Take a look on the inside of a tail boom on a belted helicopter. They have little rub marks on them. Listen to Johnny32197 doing a flight on his Logo 690SX.... you can literally hear the belt slapping the inside of the tail boom.

A well designed and implemented torque tube should be basically the same smoothness, even if it doesn't "sound" like it is. Belts just sound smoother and are quieter because it's soft material against hard material where gears are hard against hard.

As for how smooth the Protos, Goblins, etc sound, you should hear my T-REX 700L.... it sounds just as smooth as any other 700 machine from any brand. At 1700rpm it's almost silent and dead smooth.

Regardless - "smooth" is relative. What one considers to be smooth may not be the same as another. Vibration logs will reveal that they really aren't any different as far as vibration goes, as long as the TT bearings are not damaged and the TT isn't bent.

IMO...
When did having options to do what you want become something that people don't want?
Totaly agree.
Would there be the same complaints if you had the same options with say a Goblin or MSH kit?
I would think not, it would probably more along the lines of, "good on you brand "X" and thanks for the options.".
I don't have any issues with the tails on my other Align helis, but also agree, it would be nice to have ratio options for those who want them. I would be one of those people who would give them a go just to see if there is a difference.

I might be the only one, but I prefer TT to belts.
I've never broken any TT gear on any of my aligns from a normal langing no matter how high the grass is.
I've broken belts in flight.
So far my TT have been more reliable than belts.
I never need to adjust tension with a TT.
I can fly hundreds or thouthands of hard 3D flight with a TT without absolutely any mantenance.
I've had align 450SE, 450PRO, 450L, 500, 600N, 700N, 700 DFC, 700 DFC V2. Thouthands and thouthands of flights on them, the TT have been extremely reliable.
On the other hand, I've had a fusion which had poor TT gears and it was a nightmare, the gears would break in flight.
I've had a logo, a mini protos and the belt was an annoyance on both.
I've seen people crashing due to TT issues, but I've seen more people crashing due to belt issue.
If you don't hit the ground, TT are really reliable.
Finally, for the smaller helicopter, TT is the way to go if you want to make autos.
I didn't buy the 470L because of the lack of TT, now I'm reconsidering my choice.

Does anybody know if Align is planning on releasing a "torque tube conversion kit" that has all the parts to go from belt to TT?

Thanks dchekas. To bad the kit doesn't include two torque tube support bearings, I run two on my 450L and the 470 tube is even longer. I'll just purchase an additional bearing.

So is there anything new in the TT version compared to the LM version, (other than the TT tail obviously)?
I'm intrigued by the new "passion and infinity" features???

Maybe

TT version has a V2 head where my old LM has a V1 head.
but with

470L V2 Main Rotor Holder H47H019XX $23.99

All old LM or LP can be easily upgraded to V2 head and I do not know this but Align may have upgraded all the newer belt kits to V2

Received my 470 TT conversion kit yesterday, test flew it today. It was good, uneventful. Its more of a piece of mind to me. Going to install the TT conversion on my 500X tonight most likely.

Default TT Kit

So I just installed the upgrade. Normal bolt out and bolt in. Please take caution when cutting the frames. Remove or remove and bag the motor. You do not want carbon in the motor it will burn up on you, Take the time and remove it. You will want to just cut it with motor installed. Don't do that.

I will try and fly next week but storms in my area for next week.
