Default Expanding V-Bar NEO / ESC Telemetry Options?

I'm excited about the recent expansion of NEO telemetry compatibility with the new Scorpion Tribunus ESC line, but in light of yesterday's extensive Brain2 telemetry upgrade/expansion it makes me wonder if Mikado is working on a comparable telemetry capability expansion. All of my work the past week to re-wire my stable of Castle and Hobbywing equipped heli's with recently purchased Mikado UI sensors all of a sudden feels pretty "old school". Anybody feel the same way?

I would second that. It would be great if we didnt need the telme module for kontronik or a special adapter to gain connectivity to hobbywing (understanding this isnt out there). I would love to see this level of telemetry in the next update to keep up with the competition

I'm hoping they look into doing something. I wouldn't like them to lag behind after being so ground breaking with the Vbar Control itself.

I do wonder why they need a "tell me" device for the Kosmik/Jive Pro, where you can plug either of those straight into a Jlog or a Brain 2 with no need for an adapter.

Brain2/Ikon2 does NOT support Kosmik or JivePro only the older Jives.

Only because Kontronik refuses to work with any third parties. Likely because they want to sell $90 TellMe adapters, which are quite a waste of consumer dollars. Likely the protocol can be reverse engineered though.

Rest of the major esc companies are happy to provide specifications for external telemetry as they realize the benefit and value it brings to the consumer to have a $0 esc telemetry solution.

Kontronik also did not provide Tom from JLog any data and his solutions work a treat. The problem might be that Kosmik and JPro requires two-way communication to enable telemetry and that the Brain/Ikon cannot provide that?

It can. It's a matter of reverse engineering it.

I did not know that. In that case, come on Mikado, I want data from my PowerJive 120+ on my V control!

I gave up those features when I moved over to V Control. I was running a Jlog with FrSky Taranis and had a bunch of data on tap (voltage, RPM etc), most useful of course was the "fuel gauge" for want of a better term.

Am sure they can do it... and they will charge you an exorbitant fee for that... and all the fans will pay and will justify the cost.

Am selling my VControl gears and moving to Jeti Brain 2 i just love what they are doimg for the hobby now.

But mikado still deserves the credit for bringing this technology to us.

It is actually not up to Mikado to support the older Kontronik ESC's, they posted in the their forum that Kontronik was given a VBC to implement their telemetry and the Kosmik/Jpro took over a year to be done by Kontronik, so do not hold your breath that they will ever do it for their older series.

We might be lucky and Tom from JLog can get it working with the VBC.

Kontronik will have a new line of ESC's with Telemetry integrated for VBC soon..... So it is coming, it's just a matter of time..... HV ESC's will follow no doubt!

9 March 2017 - Preview: KOLIBRI – the new LV-ESC by KONTRONIK

In summer 2017 KONTRONIK is planning to launch their new LV-ESC: the KOLIBRI.
The KOLIBRI will be available in 3 versions (first drafts):

KOLIBRI 60 LV
with 60A continuous current

KOLIBRI 90 LV
with 90A continuous current

KOLIBRI 120 LV
with 120A continuous current

All versions are designed for 2-6S and have a powerful BEC with 5-9V and up to 10A continuous
current.

Further features are:
· Software is based on the premium-ESC KOSMIK
· soft startup and perfect control like in the premium segment
· variable application with easy modus programming
· available TelME’s are already integrated – no further hardware is necessary
· 1 resp. 2 (version 120LV) telemetry interfaces
· bluetooth-capable
· update-capable
·
Last tests and preparations are still in progress so that we plan to launch the KOLIBRI in summer / autumn 2017. Prices and final technical details will be announced then. Stay curious!
