Default Just saying hello and getting back in.

Hi Fellas,

Not new to r/c heli's, but have been out for over a year. Just can not seem to quit messing with these mechanical marvels. Been messing with heli's since the 80's and remember my first heli was a cricket .28 that never even came out of the box it came in, gave it away. The cricket had a ball muffler, if anyone remembers those. I then purchased a GMP Cobra .50 and actually learned to hover on this, with the aid of a simulator that I cannot remember the name of that had a stick figure heli representation. I have built several kits (and dorked a few times) since those early days. My first fast forward flight was with an ergo .46 and I remember my whole body shaking with adrenaline, I was so nervous after that I packed my stuff up at the field and had to go home to calm down. My last venture was a Fury Extreme .91 that was awesome, to say the least. I am now waiting delivery on a Fury FAI Tempest with 3d head RTF and a Fury extreme kit, yes two heli's. I have to admit I love r/c and miss it alot. I live in the Sierra Foothills of California in a place called Valley Springs, so if there are any guys close by, give me a shout.

Best Regards,
Paul Austin

I remember those mufflers, I believe they were known as the "Heliball". I also believe the sim you are referring to was the ambrosia simulator, one of the first. Things sure have come a long way, huh?

BTW, nice forum you guys have over here!

Hey Paul, I have been "in and out" of this RC stuff so many times, I can't count.... but one thing for certain, it's a great hobby to keep "coming" back to ! Welcome to HeliFreak !

Ain't that the truth!
Sometimes you just HAVE to sell it all off and take a break to justify the excuse of buying all new stuff!!
The downside is when getting back in, you might not know what's 'new and hot' and buy what you would've bought when you got out, not necessarily what you need to have. Case in point, I bought a JR 9303 radio, it's nice, feels good, and works well...But does not have the setup features like a governor program.. Knowing what I now know, I'd have bought the Futaba 9Z..
It's great to get back in, welcome back!
