Hi,

How is the weather up there in the mountains? Still flying outside?

Best,
Frank

I had my tail bearings seize up while hovering indoors, scared me plenty. I had my tail fin on too tight is what caused it:

Hi,

The wear of the tail case bearings increases highly, if the case is tightened too much.

Tightening the case causes axial force on the ball bearings, which radial ball bearings do not like. Thrust bearings like the ones in the head are designed for axial force.

Best,
Frank

Hi,

At work, too, but with 50 deg outside, should go up to 70 in the afternoon. During the winter we fly indoors here in Omaha, Thursdays and Sundays. At least two days of flying in a week

Best,
Frank

Well, in the winter I will get my building done. Going to make a 60-size electric plane over the winter - we'll see how that goes. I can go out and fly planes when it is pretty cold, but my fingers shake too much for helicopters.

Just replying to this thread so the next guy who has this problem doesn't have to fish through 35 pages of posts. Into my bad tail now for about 6 hours, 20 new parts. Still searching. I will report the final culprit, hopefully soon!
