Default Question about 250 Pro DFC

I saw someone mention on a youtube video that the torqe tube is fragile and can bend easily while constructing and was even bent apon recpt of the heli kit. Has anyone else had an issue with the torqe tube supplied with this heli?

I have tried looking around for a build video on the 250pro DFC but have been unlucky. Would anyone have any good suggestions for a nice step by step with comments on issues and short commings of the kit?(something like what finless bob does?)

Thank you all for your time and expertise
Jonathan

I picked up my 250 PRO DFC Super Combo kit a couple weeks ago. My first Align heli and my first kit build but I've had many years of mechanical and electronic work projects. I was very impressed with the fit, finish and even the packaging. The mechanical build went quick and easy. The mounting of the receiver, ESC (where they wanted to put it didn't feel right to me) and routing all the wiring took me a while. Very pleased with the results and she flew fine right from the first takeoff. Well, I did have the rudder gyro compensation backwards but that was an easy programming fix.

I found no issues with the tail components. Everything appeared straight and installed easily. The only issues I ran into with the kit were minor and have been noted by other builders. First, tightening the main shaft bottom bolt caused binding with the one way bearing. I temporarily took out the copper washer at the top of the main gear. Second the canopy seems to fit way too tightly. I trimmed some of the bottom where it hooked on to the frame which helped but it's still way too hard to get it on.

All in all I love it!

Mathieas,

Make sure you lube the tail boom inside before you push the torque tube in. You can also spray some silicone to reduce friction. When assembling the TT, you need to glue a bearing on it. Then snap a rubber piece on the bearing. This rubber piece fits tight in the TT. If you are not careful, you may bend the TT.

These parts are very delicate, relatively speaking. Handle them accordingly and you should be fine.

Good point about lubricating the tube before trying to assemble the tail unit. I'd forgot to mention that step. This was my first Align build and I had to read and re-read, sometimes read again to make sure I caught everything. Not exactly step by step instructions but as mentioned if you're careful not to try and force anything you should be fine. That rubber part fits so tight in that tail tube that I'd imagine one could easily damage things if you missed the lube step.

I found everything to fit together perfectly during assembly so if you find yourself tempted to force something you've probably either missed a step or you're doing it wrong.
