Default ESC choice

Im looking at getting a new scorpion ESC.

Im running the scorpion 8 motor with HS65mg servos.

Should I get the 45amp or the 60amp?

The 60amp has a 6 volt bec but is 20 grams heavier. Will the 6 volt bec make a differenc or should I just get the 45 amp with a 5 volt bec and 20 grams lighter?

I"d rather have the weight savings from the smaller ESC. And I doubt you will be taking advantage of the 60A on the other one.

I use a CC BEC on all my heli's. I"d go that route with the 45A ESC.....then you can program it to 6V if you want.

I run a CC45a with a 10a cc BEC (was on sale $5 more than 35a) and the warmest thing on the heli is the battery @ 110 running 3050 RPM.

A friendly FYI: Be careful if you do choose to go with the Scorpion as there are a couple of low end ESC's that are designed for planks which are unsuitable in heli's. Forget exatly which models just make sure you check the spec's, the ESC's that are best in heli's will have the "Soft Start" feature! The ESC's I'm talking about do not

How about the cc 35? Great esc and can be programmed on the computer.

The 45A scorpion esc will be more than enough for the -8 motor. The V2 scorpion esc are designed for helis, but skip the crappy gov function and use flat throttle curves. The esc works great out of the box with scorpion motors you just have to enable the soft-start (which is overly soft IMO).

I just got a CC45 and plan on running 4s, so I thought to get the CC BEC. I read that there is a prob. running one of these with a JR 790 Scan Select RX. Is this true, or can I run it and be safe?

Sorry, I think I wasn't clear enough. Will the CC BEC work with the RX. I can't find the link now, but it was saying there was a conflict w/ JR & Spectrum RX's. I really didn't understand the way they explained it.

Here is the link:
