maybe you should talk to some of the shops like readyheli... helidirect.. flying-hobby... and see if they'd like to carry the custom frames.. might make you enough to buy JB a nice present...

nice going ben! i really like how easy it looks to set the mesh on your stiffy mount! that is one of the biggest pains about the stock setup. the one thing i would add about the bearing blocks is to make sure they're notched right- you want the notch on the bottom part for the bottom block, then up on the top for the upper bearing block- keeping those guys in there tight will reduce the chances of blowing em out. nicely done

OMG that frame is amazing Ben! I would definitely buy one for $200! I'm working on my own little project right now too. Just an aluminum and CF battery plate for the plastic Hurri frame, but I might just have to forget about it and buy yours hahaha! I second mysticmeads input on going to the shops with your ideas. Or you can even take your idea to GAUI and maybe they'll make a V2 with your design. Whatever happens, I think you've got the best design I've seen. Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress.

I would be interested in one of these fancy frames. They look like they'd be the perfect setup for a flybarless helicopter!

I'm sure that's why my 550 has survived a couple hundred flights with the original gears. I did swap in a 20T owb for the 19T at about flight 75 or so.

Thicker frames and aluminum bearing blocks make a big difference.

the tshirt design can be a viagra pill, but the imprint on the pill will be a hurri550 instead of the "viagra" i'd buy one

Hey Bobby

Bearing blocks are notched in the correct directions, in fact all the bearings on the Main bearing block need to be notched in the same direction which in good news as it means the bearing block can be machined from one side only making machining quicker and cheaper.

Love the Viagra T shirt Idea

Bob get on the computer and knock us up a design!!
Instead of Pfizer it could be Pfwazzer!!!!

We have loads of places to get T shirts printed around here and they are really cheap!!

If I ever get to make any number of these frame sets for sale then all you guys here on the Helifreak Hurricane 550 forum will get a special discount.

Price will go from $200USD to $250USD!!! Just kidding! There will be a decent discount but only for a select few!! So you all better start being nice to me and less of the Gay Jokes!!!!!

The clear frames do look cool. I intend to build the next prototype from 3-4mm Acrylic and actually fly it that way. Its amazing how much more rigid the acrylic frames get when you bolt them all together. The original prototype made from 2mm Acrylic was suprisingling stiff in the right places. But the landing gear taps are incredibly week!!

I have some new designs up mysleeve to solve that though.

Stay tuned

Ben

are you going to have a gimp mask for the shop logo?

seriously Ben.. If you ask anyone that knows me.. if I don't pick on you.. it means I don't like you... which is why I pretty much pick on all the Hurri freaks most of them at least....now get to work on those frame kits... I want to see at least 5 of them done in time for the B'Ham funfly next month

oh yeah... try to keep the glitter and lip gloss off the frames and out of the bearings

haha we'll call that the "mystic-poked-fun-at-ben's-sexuality" special... or you could always get him back by making a special "all pink" version and sending that one off to him
