Good Morning Ben
Are you ready to ship soon. I ask simply because I will be starting a new job on Tuesday and I will be gone from home weeks at a time. I am a over the truck driver, and I will not have much Internet contact.

Default Final Pre Production frame set

Hey Guys

Had a real late night last night at the machine shop helping the boys run the cnc programs to get my parts back.

The boys did a good job and everything turned out pretty good.
there are a few minor adjustments made but no real changes.

I have attached a few pics for you to see the progress so far.
The aluminium parts shown have not been fully finished. I wanted to get them assembled for test fitting. The final production parts will go through a vibrating tumbler where they are put into a bowl full of steel balls and vibrated for a few hours. The finish should come out as a dull shine.
We still need to fine tune the cutting speeds and cut depths for the best results for cutting the Carbon Fibre. As you can see from the pictures the edges are a little frayed but they soon clean up with a little sanding.

I am hoping to get the changes made this week and start production batches.
I have increased the first production run from 10 to 20 sets so fingers crossed i can sell them!

I am interested in any feed back you may have so don't be shy!!

Cheers all

Ben

Sorry about the black and white pictures for some strange reason when i upload they get converted.
Any suggestions how to stop this?

Oh and yes when I took the pictures I didn't realise the RX was not fitted properly!!!

Check your software settings on the upload program. It may be applying settings the images when you extract them.

Easiest way of you are using windows is to go to My Computer and browse to the camera and drag and drop the images out of the camera.
(it may be a drive letter in XP or the camera name in Vista)

Other way is to use a cheap USB memory card reader for the memory card and it comes up as a drive letter. From there you can pull out the pictures like you were moving any other files.

Excellent looking frame by the way!

Hi Erick
Im not 100 percent sure when i will be able to ship as i am at the mercy of my suppliers.
I am still waiting for the Carbon Fibre to arrive from China and the machine shop only does my work when they have time available on the machines.
Also I just realised that next week Harvest Festival is celebrated in Malaysia and the whole country pretty much slows to a crawl for a week. My machine shop shuts down entirely.
Please also bear in mind that this is a hobby within a hobby for me I am a one man band at the mercy of others.

I am pushing to get the production batches ready for shipping as soon as possible. Your frame set will definitely be in the first batch.

Many thanks for your patience

Ben

I will look into it
I use the built in SD card reader in my laptp and i use the forum attachment manager for uploading same as i have always done for posting pics.
For some reason recently all my pictures are being converted. Very strange

Ben,

Looking good mate - just one small observation (and obviously ignore me as I know nothing), but the circular holes in the CF frame either side of the main shaft don't look quite right to me aesthetically. Your other cut-outs are straight-edged shapes and the circular holes just don't look right to me - I guess they won't affect strength much as you have your X-brace just behind, but just my humble opinion.

Cheers,
Mike.

Yeah i kind of agree with you there Mike.

They are there for looks and weight removal reasons any ideas as what you think would look better?

I was thinking maybe some sort of double H to represent Head Hunter?
What do you think?

Hey Erick
No worries mate will get the out as soon as they are ready I want to make sure they are 100% ready so you guys don't have any problems with the assembly.
Oh and believe me I am allot more impatient than you!!

Cheers All

Ben

Cheers

Weight saving 6 x 10mm carbon fibre disks, you really are getting into the fine details there, my scales can't weigh that light

Actually I really like the HH idea, that would look cool - like the 3DX / HDX 500 frames - probably would save as much weight though

ha.....bro a round hole is structurally sounder than sharp point at any time..,..distributes shock over more of an area.....doesn't give a fracture somewhere to start....

Marco you are absolutely correct!!

How ever if i decide to go with the HH idea all the corners will have at least a 1mm radius as a milling machine has a hard time to cut internal square corners with a round cutting tool!!

the ares where i have removed material are fairly strong so im not too worried.

I will let you know how the crash testing goes as i am determined to nail nose in as soon as possible.

I'm sure that you already have a logo - but I would guess that you could easily CNC something like this ....

Hey Mike thanks for the suggestion

I will have a look and see what i can come up with.

I am still waiting for JB to finish up the logos and artwork for me so will see what he comes up with first just incase there is something obvious i can use in there.

If not then i will do something similar to your Double H.

This is exactly the type of feed back i am looking for guys

if there is anything in particular you would like to see on the frames or even take off of the frames then let me know.

Cheers all

Ben

Default Carbon Landing Gear?

Hi Guys

What do you think about and RJX style all carbon landing gear?

Do you think it would be a cool option?

My version would get rid of the aluminium tube and have a carbon plate in its place.

Let me know what you think

Ben

hey alright!!! looking good ben. i like the fact that the frame is attached to metal (either spacers or plates) at every spot that's more narrow. the frame looks even more slick in cf. so does the rx go in the middle of the bottom tray? maybe you could do a tray option halfway in between the bottom plate and tail boom so you can keep the rx away from the noise/static that could come from the moving gears. love the gyro placement- looks nice and safe
