Default dead 652

I had a JR 652 laying around and decided to use it as my sim transmitter. It has a 600 ma nicad in it so I put it on a slow charger that I use for my other two radios (both futabas). I checked it a couple of hours later and found that it was now totally dead. So I said to myself, "Hmmm."

I then put it on my supernova, which promptly warned me that the polarity was reversed. What? JR uses reversed polarity? Dumb me. So, I correct this and charge the battery. It took almost 600 ma. I then turned on the Tx... The LCD is all wacko now. It appears that I fried something when I put it on the slow charger with normal polarity...

Is this radio now dead forever? Or, can something be done to easily bring it back to life?

JR uses a reverse wiring scheme for their connectors.

Instead of the normal + on the inside, - on the barrel, it's reverse for JRs.

So, that usually blows an internal fuse which may or may not be simple enough
to repair.

In your case, the fuse doesn't sound like it blew but you may have in fact damaged
something internal.

You can open it and see if the fuse is OK but beyond that, start thinking about sending
it in for a repair.

From JR's web site, I see no good service info. Any recommendations for where I might send it to be serviced?

I found a company called HORIZON HOBBY @ 1-217-352-1913 who appears to be the US distributor. Maybe I can get them to work on it? We have no JR reps at our field.

I have connected to futaba cord to mine many of times. Check the fuse it does blow most of the time. If not the fuse then it is the diode. You can send it in to horizon. most of the time it is $20 repair.
