Hey Bob! I would love to hear your personal thought on the differences between 500 CF and ESP (metal parts, TT, servos).
Maybe this build would be the occasion?

Well here are some notes so far. Realize I have upgraded my original 500 to all the metal parts. So as far as the metal parts go. It's the same.

Screws seem softer than my original kit. I stripped one already My original kit I never stripped any screws and they have been in and out a few times due to upgrades and crash repairs.

Frames are identical except I had to do a little more sanding and clean up of the edges and holes with sand paper.

TT is the same as my TT I bought over a year ago as an upgrade to my original 500. PIN THE BOOM!

So far thats all I have noticed. If I find other differences I will post them.

Bob, there has been some talk in the 500 upgrade forum about how the KDE items have different width. Have you ever experienced any issues with this? I believe the battery plate as well as the gyro/reciever plate is slightly narrower than the bottom plate. About .5mm difference.

Thanks :-)

(Just for the record, i love the KDE products!)

hey bob, would it be a bad idea to budle the wires then heatshrink it with black heat shrink its blends with the frames and and zip tie it to the frame?

No actually that is a good idea and I usually do that myself. So have at it! It does make things look cleaner.

Bob,

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the purpose of a "header tank"? I've not seen one in the other nitro builds. Why does this Heli need one and not others?

um no not really BenHeli.....thats true but not its primary purpose.

the header tank's purpose is to supply the engine with a constant/air bubble free fuel. it always stays full because its feeding fuel from the main tank.

when doing 3D maneuvers a main tank will not be full, allowing the fuel to 'swish' around causing foaming and possible air bubbles, this is also because the clunk will not always be submerged in fuel, and might suck air for a split second...

forgot the second part to you question Chrisag...

some heli's do not need it such as the Trex 700 because it was a unique tank that is specially designed to eliminate the need for a header tank.

What exactly is so special about the 700's tank? I've seen quite a few 700's and it looks like it's just a big tank. Most people use fuel magnet clunks instead of running headers to deal with the problem...

Either way it's great to get the extra security that you wont lean out while inverted a foot off the ground. I recently started using a header on my 600 and I love it.
