Default Trex 600 FLIGHT opinion

Well all, Andy let me fly the Trex 600 yesterday. Forgetting all the arguements about pack performance, I have got to tell you all that this bird FLYS FREAKIN GREAT! I have flown a lot of 50 sized heli's and this bird TRACKS great and flips, loops, rolls, etc just rocked...

Honestly and I aint telling this to pimp the product as I dont get paid or ANYTHING like that but I actually was impressed with how the heli flew.... I really didnt think it was going to be that dramatic! HONESTLY! It actually was.... Maybe it was just becasue it was electric vs Nitro... I dont know but I liked it.

I asked Andy if he would let me auto it in and he said yes and MAN.... Honestly as a belt driven heli (like my Hirobo Sceadu Evo 50) I was impressed. It was probably the 600mm blades vs my 590's on my Sceadu but killer man.........

In the end..... I enjoyed the way the heli flew and this is no BULL.

Now all we have to see if it has QUALITY, stands up to the pounding, etc.... Only time for all of us getting one will tell but I am pretty sure anyone that flys one will enjoy it even if it is for 5 minutes

Bob

You had to say that didn't you! Now I am destined to get one. Between watching the 90s yesterday and you loving it...

Damn you Bob! I can't make up my mind as it is and I was just about positive that I was going to get a Synergy 90 and you have to go and say how the thing is awsome. Now I'm back to square one again. Hmm....Synergy vs Rex 600.....Maybe I should just spend the money on lottery tickets so I can afford all the toys I want.

Becasue you really dont need it and if you saw my video of Andy crashing it was becasue of radio lock outs! He replaced the RX and solved it but....... I would not risk that much heli on a deans IMHO.

Hmmmmmmmmm...........

I have always used a Deans antenna in all my birds? I have had 6 nitro helis and my TREX SE. I currently am flying my TREX and EVO50 with a Deans.

Now you have me wondering Bob.....LOL

I will keep an eye on things but honestly I have never had a problem with using them...........AND I use FM RX all the time to..........................now that's another topic all together...............LOL

In theory Deans should be fine. Those PCM Rx we use on nitro helis are also used by 50% plankers, who can be waaaaay farther out than a heli ever could because of size and orientation. So even a 10% reduction in range shouldn't be a problem.

.... but

Yeah, I'm going to to be using my deans on my R770S Rx in my 600.

I was talking about this in another thread just recently, because I read a study that shows that adding a whip antenna not as much of a range killer as some people think.

read it below:
http://www.rc-cam.com/ant_exp.htm

If you look at the comparative dB loss in the different configurations, the whips don't look so bad.....

Especially when compared to the dB loss that you get when you wind your antenna around anything.

I am semi OK with those on a Nitro but NOT on a big electric. Just my opinion based on experience.

I have a Trex 600 on order, and I wanted to ask some questions. What servos do you plan or suggest to use for cyclic? And for tail control, I was thinking the gy611, but I was told thats kinda overkill? What about the gy401 and 9254, is that a good choice for the Trex?

I plan to use the futaba R319DPS rx. I got a good deal on it, and no crystals which is great .

Anything else you suggest?

For cyclic there are MANY choices for servos. I would go with a reasonably fast digital servo like a Futaba 9252, maybe a Hitech HS-6975, etc, etc, etc....

For tail a 401 and 9254 are a good choice! If you want even better and have the bucks a GY611 with servo is the best!!!!

Hmmmmm the R319DPS.... Most heli people stay away from that thing. It has a nick name of "dial a crash" as supposedly vibration can cause them to have problems. Based on hearing these kinds of comments I personally would not use it.... Just my opinion.

"dial a crash"

Someone told me once unless you can do a 100 MPH tail slide a 401 is plenty.
