Is this a drop in upgrade with the 15 amp esc? This answer could have varying opinions, but I'm really cost oriented, so if there is a cheaper solution that buying a new ESC, such as using a BEC to drop heat, or mounting the ESC in a place where it is ventilated, that input would be appreciated. However if it's a complete no go I'd be glad to know before I purchase.

I have been running this motor for several hundred flights with the stock esc with zero issues. Use a 15T pinion and feel the power!

15T? That's gotta be insane! I'm using a 14T on a scaler 250 with this motor and it is quite mental even with the extra weight, lol

I'm running the 3900 on a 15T & loving it....For piece of mind I installed a Medusa Potencia 5v BEC leaving the Align ESC to concentrate just on the motor. Install was a breeze & it's working great, stock ESC is barely warm after a flight now. At the moment I've seen the Medusa Potencia's going for as little as $12 (usually $24) due to Medusa research leaving the RC business.

Hmmnmm I was wanting to get one of these, but the 3900kv sounds scary to me. I'm runnign the stock motor with a 16t pinion and the headspeed is crazy fast! I worked it out and if i switched to the 3900 with the 15t pinion it will be an extra 1000rpm over my current headspeed (so in the 5k RPM Range!) Isnt that a bit much?!!?!

Can i get a smaller pinion? 14 or even 13t?? Align dont seem to sell them. What Mod are the 250's? Would a 2.3mm T-Rex 450 pinion fit??

Or am i just being a wimp and should just go for the 15t 5000rpm headspeed!?!?!

I'm just getting into the harder 3D styles. Starting my first piroflips and that sort of stuff. (havent tried any on the 250, but sooon... ) I noticed my headspeed drops when i do fast flips and pull high G's in fast turns etc, so thought the motor upgrade to be a good idea.

Cheers guys...

OK, i just worked it out again, and the RPM isnt that much of a difference.

If i run the 15t with the 3900kv it works out to around 4870 rpm vs my current 4528 on 16t 3400kv. So only 300rpm more!

So i think i will get one in my next order!
