Default New O.S. 55 HZ Engine on T-Rex 600N

Hello everyone,

I've been messing with a production version of the new O.S. 55 HZ for a little while now. This engine has stupid power, certainly an excellent upgrade for any 50 size helicopter.

Way too many improvements! Better designed piston and sleeve, higher capacity of course, a much better carburetor and fuel intake and 3 needles for better midrange tuning!

I'm currently running the Hatori SAB-56 muffler. However, the Align muffler works very well with this engine too.

Here is a short video, I'll post a full flight video soon. If you watch directly from YouTube, you can watch in HD:

Cool. I guess a thing like that runs 12S? Is it the ESC I can see smoking behind?

Not sure yet, trying to see if I can make it. Depends on a few things, but I should know within the next week or two.

How is this engine compared to your T700N, I have heard people say it feels like a 90 size engine in a 50 body, is this really true, and the thing cost 299, why so much?

Thanks

Robert

Its funny how the REDLINE 53 has the same power as the OS55 for alot less $$$...

Very close to the torque of the 700, of course power-to-weight ratio. Dwntyme, I strongly disagree, I have flown the Redline 53, it is a good engine, but very hard to tune correctly and for sure it doesn't have the power that this engine has. It is a good engine, but not up to par with this. I'm sure that in time ThunderTiger will release an updated version that will be more up to par with this engine.

Thanks. I was just comparing the Specs of the 2 engines. I have heard that if the OS50 60L carb is installed on the RL53 that it makes boat loads of power...

BTW Nice flying at IRCHA I watched you and it made me just wanna pack my stuff and go home...LOL

That would make sense, the main problem with the Redline is its carb. It is extremely hard to tune and even if you are able to tune it, you don't get good performance throughout the entire range. The O.S. 55 has a great carb, easy to tune and produces lots of power. It also incorporates some of the nice features of the O.S. 91 HZ, such as better piston design, etc.
