Default Trex 250 has kicked my butt!

Man, I have had lots of fun with this little heli, but I think I am done! It is one thing after another, rebuild the mixing arms, tail needs work, belt fray, one way bearings crap, head block needs replacing, swash is as sloppy as a 2 year old's spot at the dinner table! This is alot of work to keep flying, I mean I have about 550 to 600 flights on it, 450 of them are hard 3D flights, but my two year older 450 is holding together soooo much better! I guess I'll give it one more chance with the new "SE" parts, once they are available here in the US.

If that doesn't fix it I'm binning it!

Next time try entering a line between photos, otherwise they end up strung out horizontally across the screen wider than the normal webpage....

Keep flying she keeps our fingers nimble...

I thought you and your 250 reconciled after I saw you closed your thread in the for sale section?

Keep us posted on how the SE parts work out.

Nope I rebuilt it, and something else went wrong, I don't mind working on them, well that's not true, I tolerate working on them, but the 250 has been alot of work, more than any other Align I've owned! It is fun to fly when it is not loose and sloppy, but that only take 40 or so flights then slop starts to show up!

Oh yea, I love it, if I didn't I would have put it in a clay pigeon thrower; and blasted it out of the sky by now! I have just had my fill , it is just too lop sided, too much work for not enough flying, it has be progressive, used to fly great for a week some times two, now it falls out of the sky every second flight!

OK now I am feeling the SAME freakin way.... My tail servo died in flight Sunday.. PISSED ME OFF.....

I have a serious LOVE and HATE relationship with this heli... what pisses me off the most is I actually like flying this POS.... AND YES... compared to what I have and could be flying... This is a POS but for some reason it's fun.. GO FIGURE! I HATE the little thing and maybe thats why it pisses me off

Hey Bob,
say what you really mean!
Btw, I'm kinda at that stage. rather than keep trying to fix mine, I'm about to order an se and use my v1 for spares. Crazy, but it's an addictive little beast!

I'm pretty new and I'm also addicted to the 250; when it's flyable it's the one I've always got in the air, but I do spend an AWEFUL lot of time repairing it... I thought it was just me.

Looks like people up and down the ladder love/hate this heli. I'm planning on getting an SE also, to hopefully always have one in the air.

I had to have Bert K help me with mine at SRC.
He was very nice and suggested binning the JR 290 tail servo as well as dumping the gyro for something more advanced.

So I put on a 9257 with his help and now its flying "OK" but still need to replace that gyro.
and now I have a broken ball on the swash so that needs to be replaced..

I'm nearly to the bin it phase as well..
I like to fly it but it just as the others lots of issues to the point it sits more than it flies.

Blah blah blah

My last small heli was a blade 400. Trex 250 flies way better. I can fly it more cause of the small size. Holds up better in a crash. My confidence has exceeded all my wildest dreams.

Maybe I just don't know any better.

Bob are you coming to the Sacramento Rotary Wings fun fly this weekend?

I've had my 250 super combo for just over a month, built stock (latest kit with updated tail grips, 205d blades, 250sp motor etc), and it flies great, I've had no problems at all, and have flown far more in the last month than I did in the 3 months before, as I take the 250 in a case with tx/batts/charger when I normally wouldn't have a heli with me.

I've been trying to get he hang of inverted hovering for a few months, and in last 2 weeks with 250 I've got down to about 1ft off the ground, and can hover inverted for about 15 seconds - I made a lot more progress due to regular flying !!

I'm not sure if people with problems have original tail bits (not updates), or are expecting too much ? I've set mine up as per instructions using GP750/DS420 and the tail holds great ??

I wonder if a lot of newbies buy the 250 as its cheap/small, and are surprised its harder to fly than a coax ?

I don't have any trouble flying it, in fact it's my favorite helicopter. I have one in a case as well and fly it at work, then at home afterward. I just LOVE the heli.

A lot of people are complaining about the maintenance of the heli, myself included. The 250 requires a lot more TLC than any of my others, mostly due to it's size I'm sure, but the parts just seem to wear out pretty quickly and there's ALWAYS something that falls out of adjustment or needs replacing. It gets tiring is all I'm saying.

It's an addiction. Crash and buy more parts. Keeps the industry going! Especially in RC! My bird is on the table dismantled more often then it is in the air. And I love every sec of it.

Oh I have flown mine, in a week I was averaging 25 flights, some times double that...

I have built it, rebuilt it, crashed it and done it all over again and again, it is just not holding together anymore... new part here; and then a old part there comes apart! Search this thread, I have been on here promoting the 250 since before I had one! It is just this one is worn out! With the batteries in this photo I have close to 600 flights, and I had a Outrage 800 that lasted 35 flights and 2 Eflight packs that I did all the break in flying on, this heli has paid it's dues, maybe the SE bits will make it a bit more maintenance free, but I doubt it! The threaded screws we use to hold on the mixing arms, and the very small bearings just wear out. Was it worth the effort.... yes, I have had a great time flying in my backyard, I learned loads from this little heli!
