Well, it is the crappy version. It doesn't help that I am using it on overcast days. Overcast conditions are a problem with any video camera, I am surprised this one does as well as it does. We'll see when the good camera arrives. I don't think anyone has done any vids on crappy overcast days in this thread, would be curious to see how the good camera does in crappy conditions.

FlamingDrongo, look a few posts back at my first vid, there is a pic of my 450 and a description. Basically velcro with a velcro strap holding it down. I also balanced everything again and fixed my bad tracking from the crash a few weeks back.

That's a LOT of foam for that little helicopter to be lifting... but I bet the landings are easy!

Oh. You meant under the camera. Got it.

I got my good keychain camera today. I had bought it on the 10th of November, it took quite awhile. It looks to be much higher quality than my other camera. Now I can try it out, can't wait.

I know they all look the same, but are there some of the 720x480 ones that are crappier than others? Can someone post a link to a known good one?

There are a lot of eBay vendors with them, but actually, most point to the same guy in China. I found that there are three known variants of the keychain design. Two variants have internal memory, and the third has the microSDHC card slot. I think the image quality may be slightly better on the third variant, as it's the newest refinement. Inspecting the interior, it looks pretty clean and well-designed for the price, not like some toy hack-jobs that cut every corner imaginable. But these image chips are fussy by nature, and I wouldn't be surprised if the quality is somewhat unpredictable. At this price, buy two.

They sell the crappy version of the key chain camera for 55$ on auctions in Norway.

(always wanted to use that smily...)

Still haven't got my camera sent Nov.12.

I did it! First indoor gym flips (after two unsuccessful previous attempts) and caught on my trusty keychain cam.

4th flip the skids come to around 1" off the ground.

As far as I can tell, all the 720x480 that take removable flash cards are the good ones. It's the 640x480 ones that are a crap shoot, because while they both have internal memory, one has an actual flash card inside and the overall construction and vid quality is good, the other one is cheesier in construction and the vid is not as good. I have the crappy one, and the vids I have posted are examples of what to expect. I also just received the good one, and will post a vid as soon as possible.

I know I said that I wouldn't bother in flying somewhere that small, but it's been cold and rainy for the past few days and I've got the urge to fly. I would definitely go fly in a small gym like that even if I could just work on my upright and inverted hovering.

You sure nothing hit on the fourth flip? Sure sounded like something tapped the floor.

I ordered a second keychain camera on the 23rd of November from the same seller that got my first one in 6 days (accdigital). I just got an email today saying it got held up in customs and it finally got through and leaving China...I was just going to keep it as a spare, but maybe I could use them both and put the two P.O.V. side-by-side to make a flight vid. (both a hat and an onboard). Might be cool

This is the ebay seller I bought my camera from. It has worked great so far. My only complaint is that the included usb cable doesn't seem to charge the camera. You can transfer pictures and video, just not charge. It's a standard usb cable and you probably have several laying around the house anyway.

Mine has not come yet. It was sent nov. 12th.

Decided to get another one.
Bought the second one from: accdigital (eBay)

Got it sent as registered air mail for 5$ extra. Nice to have the tracking.
Usually takes about a week to Norway.

If you put two of these on a little side by side array, can you create 3D video?

Yes, but you would have to have a special setup to watch it. You'd need like two projectors shining though filters that would plane-polarize light (one projector with the slits horizontal and one vertical). Then you could use the 3-D glasses to watch.

Not necessarily. Here's a sculpture in 3-D: just cross your eyes and relax until the two images mix in the middle. You should be able to see the lion is "in front of" the building background.

A slight problem that I see would be to synchronize the frames for best results. My video above would have completely different positions of the blades as the cameras scan their shutters. You might be able to do it if you solder a wire across from one button to control both cameras together.
