If you had a 25+ lb AP or scale model, you could take advantage of the extra torque with big blades and still keep the current demands sensible with a modest headspeed. I these applications, the extra motor weight is pretty well a moot point. In a 700 class 3D or even FAI model, I'd have to see logger data to prove that the promised extra power is a reasonably trade off for pushing 10% more model weight from heavier motor and the potential loss of run time from greater current demands at the RPM's we want to turn.

In defense of Scorpion, they tend to test stuff pretty well before release, so it would be hard for me to believe that they would release a motor for 700 class models that was an utter power hog.

Hmmm wonder what heli you can fit this in, not in a TDR, or stretched logo 700 unless you file the frames ALOT and weaken them!

After looking over this motor it really doesn't weigh much more than a 4035 scorpion motor, 10 grams.

I am really considering it. Hmm decisions decisions.

Does anyone know if the KDE motor mounts will fit in place of the RJX motor mount, same width but do they mount up distance wise the same.

If so I think a KDE motor mount with 30mm spacing will work just off setting the mounting holes by 11mm. The motor mount would also need to be flipped over because the motor is so wide that would hit the lip, L that the motor mount has.

The 4035-560 is plenty of power for any thing you want and it drops in. Why would you want something diff.?

I also get 7 mins flight time.

I get about 7 minutes of flight time with plenty of power with my 4035-560 as well.. Not sure if I want to make my ship any heavier than it already is..

But heck, if you are going to try it, I'd like to see it..

I have both the KDE and RJX mount and held them up side-by-side and the spacing seems identical for both the mount and holes. The KDE has 6 screw holes for the frame and 4 for the motor while the JRX has 4 for the frame and 2 for the motor. The KDE is also 15 grams lighter.

I talk with Scorpion yesterday, I was told that this motor is for those doing scale, camer pts or those strecthing there ships to 800 blades. I was then told that if you want to do all out 3d that the 4035-560 was the better motor for that.

With that said, I'll keep flying my 4035. I am waiting to hear what people think of this motor in flight.

Are you talking about Scorpion HK-5035-500 or Scorpion HK-5020-450?

I am not doing an install I am going with the KDE motor when it releases. Should fit without any mods and will probably work better too.
