Default In the Market for a new 500 Electric, Need Opinions!!!

Hi!
I'm in the market for a 500 and have it down to a Trex, Compass Atom 500e, and the MSH Protos Carbon. Any thoughts from some fellow flyers?

Lots of threads on this already. You can compare them to cars.

Align = Ford
Compass = Lincoln
Protos = Ferrari

Cannot go wrong with any of them as they are the sum of their electrics. However I would lean toward the Compass very robust and solid, or the Protos if you want something light and very powerful.

Great analogy. Electronics are 9650's for the cyclic, JR 3500 on the Tail, and a Spartan Quark Gyro so i would be good to go with that combo in any of the 3. Looking mainly for something that I can really work with to set up from flying fairly numb to being able to get silly with it later on ;-)

If you are just starting out you are better off with the Align as parts parts availabilty is much better. Personally I think think The Atom is a better heli though.

Compass = Lambo
Protos = Ferrari

lol

as for electronics, go full MKS, DS9670A+ on cyclics, and 8910 on tail, best set up

as for gyro, can't go wrong with a quark

I'm down to the Protos Carbon and the Atom 500. Both look like great machines, i think it may come down to local parts availability. The LHS that sells the Compass lost their US Distributor. The other LHS that sell the Protos has walls and walls of Protos parts.

Considering performance, parts costs, cost of todays batts, I'd pass all the 500's and get an Outrage 550. Will out fly all 500's mentioned! IMHO!

Wow, if the Trex 500 is a Ford then what is a Blade 400? (I know it's in a different size class, I just always thought of the Trex line up as a Mercedes compared to Eflite. Shows you how much I know.

Now three stores handle the Distribution together. You could have your LHS contact one of them.

the way i see it with local parts supply, unless your crashing every weekend, having parts at the shop inst a big deal. i for one have only crashed my atom 2 times in a year. down time was not long seeing not many things had broke in the crash.

the outrage 550 is a really nice helicopter. but if he gets the atom, we have a stretch kit coming out in the next moth making it a 500 size helicopter if he wants a bigger helicopter.

I know he tried A Main already and was turned away. Not sure on the other 2 but will give him the info. I'm getting the sense that there may be more Atom supporters than Protos supporters. Making it a tough decision!

I would say check you local hobby stores and see what they sell and keep in stock as far as parts. My LHS sells Align, Jr, Hirobo etc. and recently stocking MSH Protos which might be MY next project. There's just something about it that makes me go
