No fooling really... It SUCKED at first big time but after a few cycles it is getting better ever time.

I know I can put a lipo in each radio but it's ONLY FAIR to review it with what everyone gets. So that is what I am doing.

Going back in time to the days of NiCd and NiMh they all seemed to need a few charge and discharge cycles before they start to really come to life.

The NiMh needed a few cycles more so than the NiCd did.

I'm sure they would, I remember when NiMh's first started showing up in the hobby and they almost always needed 6-10 cycles more than NiCd's to reach their full potential unless they were cycled and matched from the factory.

And the factory ain't gonna take the time to do that. I've experienced the same results, when I first started buying NiMH batterys, thought my chargers were afu, only to do the research and really slow charge them, discharge, and cycle three to five times before they started showing the reliability that is needed in our hobby. Flashlights can live with short life cycles, aircraft don't live long with same.

No need to cycle them. You need to 'form' them. Take your new NIMH battery pack and put it on c/10 for 48 hrs and it's good to go.

Also remember playing with or programming the radio uses more power then flying because the backlight is on.

Guys I know the entire heli community enjoys Bob's videos, and come to depend on them. But IMO it is in poor taste to keep asking this single person to "hurry up" with any videos. Seen this rant a lot in regards to all his projects. Please be as patient and tactful as possible and treat new vids like they are an unexpected treat, rather than something we are paying for. Rant over...

Which brings up a new Rant....If a picture is worth a thousand words, and a video more so, WHY CAN"T MANUFACTURES MAKE THEIR OWN VIDEOS!!!!!!!

I just don't understand it. These things are not terrible hard to make but can really help sell and support your product. All this time to write some manual for a new ESC I got, describing beep tones and what not. Why can't they just make a video showing the same thing?!? Sadly we are left to search for consumer driven content on you tube and Bob here. Its a shame. Rant over.

Oh and if you wonder why manufacturers don't do their own video's why should they ? When they can leach off the talents of people like Bob who do what they do because the love the hobby and want to help !

A friend of mine purchased an Aurora 9 for his Cypher.

He asked me for help, but did not have the instructions available. I could figure out some things, but not others.

Now that I have watched the videos, I am in much better shape to assist him, going forwards.

Thank you, as always, for the videos Bob!

By the way, I have flown the radio briefly twice now. It felt good in my hands, although a bit small. The radio link felt very solid.

I am not going to rush out and buy one, as I am a JR/Spektrum guy (and not really a fan of Hitec radios), but it is a nice radio.

With respect, Hitec USA did produce a series of videos before the Aurora was even on retailers shelves. Unfortunately, with so many specialist RC modeling disciplines, be they Keli, Boating, Cars, Planes, Robotics etc, it is not feasible to cover every aspect of each discipline in detail. This is where the time and effort put in by experts in their respective fields, especially Bob, is very much appreciated. The Aurora, with firmware updates being provided to meet the requests of Glider & Heli fliers, is IMO an ongoing work of art.
Firmware updates have created some differences in procedures to those mentioned in the manual which was written at time of V1.03. Differences were apparent when V1.04 was launched overseas, more when later launched in USA with V1.05 and again with latest upgrade to V1.06. V1.07 firmware is due for release within 2-3 weeks.
FAQ and users "Software Wish List" as per :

Are those the videos posted at Youtube? In the heli setup video, he starts with "..lets set up a new helicopter...", and the next sentence is "..I've got one programmed in here now..". Fast clicking through different menus to see what has already been set up may be ok for some, but it doesn't work that well for me.
You can't really compare to Bobs videos. Bob seems to have great skill and genuine interest in both making videos and the topic of his videos. He manages to share of his knowledge through his videos. The person in Hitecs videos, well, they say practice makes perfect...

I agree. While the Hitec videos were well intentioned, they are pretty much useless.

NOBODY does them as good as Finless. I have built 3 different helicopters using nothing but Bob's videos. If it takes him a year to finish the Aurora 9 I will wait patiently.

Let us all gather around and sing praises to the Heli Lama.
