Default Do Nitro engines leak a bit?

Good Day:

I used the mixture control screw and finally found the sweet spot whereby I could remove the glow starter and the engine did not stall (thanks Jafa). I also replaced the glow plug with a new #8. But I am noticing some oil on the bottom of the OS 32 engine (below the glow plug). It is not dripping out a lot but enough that I can see it and if I rub my finger across the bottom of the engine the tip of my finger is wet. The Shuttle sat around for many years and I was wondering if the internal seals and gaskets have dried up. Or is this a common thing with these nitro engines?

Thanks,

Bob

Check that the head bolts are not loose

It's more likely to be a leak from the exhaust, dribbling down and around to the bottom
Ensure the exhaust gasket face is flat and the bolts are firmly tightened

OK...thanks Jafa..I will check the torque on all the bolts. I have never worked on such a small engine so I am a bit nervous about over torquing the bolts.

Sounds more like your idle screw is way too rich.

Yeah - good you are aware of this

Generally that's why the diameter of the hex drivers is small - so you can't get too much torque onto them
So don't wrap a rag around the handle to try and get more leverage
