Default Futaba now officially rate servos @ 7.4v

Not sure if it has already been posted here, but a Robbe representative at the 3D Masters confirmed that Futaba are now officially rating a lot of the BLS range of cyclic servos for use at direct 2S lipo voltage (7.4V).

Here is the spec sheet he provided.....

How about their FAAST receivers? are they rated for 2S lipos as well?

mmm i just did a quick search and according to the data i'm getting here the FASST receivers are only capable of handling 6V...

that seems strange to me because if i remember correctly even the spektrum receivers can handle up to 8.4V !

i'm going to dig deeper into this...

There have been folks who run the futaba FASST stuff on 2S but the official rating is still 6V.

Futaba does make a single servo line 10V rx, but it only has a single antenna so it isn`t considered full range, but it does work with the vbar.

This was at the bottom of the datasheet:

Alle FHSS Empfänger (R 2004GF und R603GF) sind ebenfalls für 2S Lithium Akkus geeignet Von den FASST / RASST Empfängern sind NUR die Empfänger R 6004FF, R6106HF, R6106HFC, R 6007 SP, R6107SP für den Betrieb mit 2 Lithium Zellen geeignet.

Maybe someone who speaks German can translate it, but this is roughly what it means thanks to Google Translate...

All FHSS receiver (R 2004GF and R603GF) are also valid for 2S lithium batteries capable of the FASST / RASST receive only the receiver R 6004FF, R6106HF, R6106HFC, R 6007 SP, R6107SP for suitable operation with two lithium cells.

Maybe with those new fasst compatible rx's coming out Futaba will step up a little bit on receiver features?

Naaa
I don't think that Futaba has ever cared or looked at what the competition is doing.

I do know an Align sponsored rep that flys Futaba and for a while he was running fasst RXs on 8V but had some long term problems and stopped doing it. Not sure that means anything but if Futaba is going to allow servos on 2S then they need to release RXs that support it as well. In my opinion anyway. This is one thing that Spektrum/JR has the lead on and has for a year now.

That is what the Futaba tech told me last year, "It will work on 2S for a while, just not real long"

How does it work for a 'while'?
Does it just slowly burn up?

This is good news, now i can run my gy520 and bls 251 on a regulated 6V and ditch the stepdown, correct?
If so, then i can simplify the wiring on my Radikal

I have been running all my futaba stuff on 6V (gy520, r6008hs) except the old tail servo's (9253 etc) and they work a charm.

It lists the BLS251 as being able to run on 6V (but not 7.4) - I haven't checked for the gyro though.
