Thanks! lol

The boom is the knitting needle mod that is way stronger then the stock boom. the boom supports are separate but the wing mount that comes with the belt kit has the mounting points on them already.

The supports are from a walkera 4F200. They are $4 a set on helidirect.com. The battery connector is a Deans connector since I run deans on everything that I have

I think I will switch to deans myself. Thanks for the info. Mine is down today from a chicken dance it decided to show me earlier this afternoon. I liked the looks of your boom so much, when I put a new one on today, which was blue, I shot it with some engine 500 degree grey primer. Looks pretty sweet IMHO...but then again, she's my baby and I may be a bit partial.

I hear ya the boom does look good. If you get tired of replacing the stock booms get some size 11 by 14" long knitting needles and then you can paint them the color you want. There is a post on here someone did on how to do it

Well Car...I did the tail boom with knitting needles. At $6 for four of them...I'd say it's the wise choice. I am on my second one already but man they hold up well. I think I like the anodized purple with my red canopy. Gives it a "pimped out" look. Now if I could just find some lightweight 24's to bolt on...it would be "rollin"

So, I just picked up this awesome Blade SR, thank you CarCrazy...

I've decided to add a few mods and now the canopy will barely fit. It's like trying to squeeze a giant hand into a small latex glove and it looks like it too. The canopy is distorted and tight and even a bit lop-sided.

I'm wondering if any of you have used larger canopies. I was thinking about the Walkera V400 canopy or a TREX 450 canopy. I need something deeper due to the HUGE battery and wider due to electronics added to the sides.

I was looking at these below, but I don't know the measurements to know if they would fit.

They're way too big for the SR. Fusuno makes canopies for the SR. You can have them custom painted with any design for not that much. I don't know if they're bigger than the stock though

How big are your batteries? You don't really benefit that much from using oversized batteries unless you're just hovering. The weight works the motor harder, throws off the CG and adds to the disc loading. 1300 mAh is about the biggest you can put on it and still have it fly okay.

I know Fusuno makes custom canopies. I've ordered them before. I don't see why an SR canopy by Fusuno would be bigger...What size canopy would you recommend that's deeper and wider? I'm talking millimeters here.

My batteries are Gens ACE 11.1v 25C 1300mAh 3S1P. Not as long as stock, just thicker.

you can reshape the fusuno canopy with a blow dryer to make it fit better. not sure what else would fit it. the 450 canopies are a lot bigger.

That thing is frighteningly ugly.

I decided to switch back to stock batteries. I ordered a custom canopy by Fusuno.

Should arrive next week.

Default Skid mod

What skid is best to use on the SR ? I see Some are going with blade 400/450 or Trex 450.
Do the mounting holes line up for easy bolt on or do you have to custom drill out the skid and/or use special srews to mount? I am getting ready to take off my training gear soon.
Thanks
TW

The B400 skid is amazing, and cheap. Just gotta oval the holes inward a little, since the mounting points on the SR frame are narrower. Use same screws that you used with ur old skid.

Default My SR

Hello all,
I got an SR 2 weeks ago and so far I have re-mounted the gyro to relieve most of the tail wag and I changed out all of the rotating plastics for the Micro Heli Aluminum pieces as well as the swash plate and Carbon Fiber main blades. I also changed out the vertical fin for the blue carbon fiber fin and am waiting for the blue carbon fiber horizontal fin to come off of back order. The one thing I noticed after the upgrades is it's a lot more responsive now. For the price of this heli, It's a blast!!
I will post pics as soon as I can.

Shawn

Default My SR

Hello all,
Here is a Pic I took of my Blade SR while at work. I upgraded it with Micro Heli CNC Aluminum pieces as well as the Micro Heli CNC Delrin Main Gear. I just got a Blade 400 skid assy. in and I will be installing it tonight after work and I am waiting for the Blue carbon fiber horizontal fin to come off of back order. The only other upgrade I want to do is the Free-Style tail kit but I'm going to do some more work on getting the last 35% or so of tail wag out of it.
