PitchP,

Sorry,

I edited my post-thank you for catching that.

I have used the governor function of the Castle speed controller on a 450, but do not have a Castle ESC on my 250 and so no governor on the 250.

The Castle governor worked very well on the 450.

The 250 uses the throttle curves and mixing as described.

Sorry, I did not mean to be unclear.

pitchp,

You are most welcome!

You might ry adding about 10% cyclic to throttle mixing also.

Check on the monitor screen to make sure that cyclic in all directions adds throttle.

Works wonders.

Yeah Ah Clem i've been researching on line, for a how to do a mix on my walkera 2801, it's similar to the DX, i'm not sure which DX, but I'm hoping my TX can do it, not like the dx6

I think a lot is that they just don't understand how an electric motor works--or even a good governor. I will say that the electric motor is a lot simpler than a glow setup. To some extent the reason is that electric has made heli's a lot simpler than they were in the "good" old glow days.

Just my 2 cents, and I don't really mean to be putting anyone down.--Honestly!
Very interesting topic.
So, let's say I have flat 100 curve in idle up, linear pitch curve (default). RPMs will be higher at zero and slow down when I move the throttle up and down (assuming I don't touch the cyclic). I am just trying to understand all of this, before I start messing up with governor.

p.s I really like my KBDD tail blades!

PitchP,

Forgive me, I am not familiar with the Walkera Transmitter, so I cannot answer your question sir.

AcidDrink,

"So, let's say I have flat 100 curve in idle up, linear pitch curve (default). RPMs will be higher at zero and slow down when I move the throttle up and down (assuming I don't touch the cyclic)."

That it correct, for as the load increases due to the additional collective pitch, the RPM will decay due to the fact that there is no more available throttle to compensate. You will probably not notice it on very short jabs at collective (the rotor head is a big flywheel), but on longer collective pulls you will feel the RPM decay.

It's somewhat like driving a car at a certain throttle setting and traveling at a fixed speed. This will work, as long as you are on flat terrain. If you start climbing a hill, you will need to increase throttle to maintain the same speed. If you are already at full throttle, your car will slow down.

I just like the smooth power the governor gives, it is not flawless, it can mess whith your gyro if not setup correct.

Ah clem, I've done the 2 Pmix. I've set them for 20% and working my way down. I've also set the expo on my "V" TC. I really need an eagle tree or some data recorder. I'll just have to go by my senses. I appreciatte all your fruitful advice. I'll try these on a 250, and 450. I'll report back on my findings. Thank you.
