Default gy401 tail wag??

Flew today and she was flying fine just every once and a while the tail would jerk or wag once or twice. usually in a hard turn or when there is a hard collective input. what could cause this. may have done it 4 times in 3 tanks of fuel. could it be gyro gain?

May be an intermittent bind in the tail mechanism.

I had a similar problem and had found that I had the servo wire chaf through where it had rubbed on the frame. Also other places to look are where the tail push rod goes through the guides on the tail boom.Mine had literaly polished the chrome off the rod and the chrome was flaking off the rod and binding inside the guides. One other thing to look for is the frame mounted push rod pivot that is bearing supported, both bearings on mine had setup.Keep in mind that I had 4 gallons of flight over last summer and really didnt do much maintance other than wiping it off and checking for loose part before flights.

If the limit is set too high the tail will wag.

Actually you probably have too high a gain. Limit ideally should be in the 100 or slightly over vacinity.
