To all those at Helifreak and Rick Lohr:

I have removed my item from Ebay an discontinued all sales until further notice.I would like to extend my thanks to all who have supported my design improvement but given the extenuating circumstances I feel it is in the best intest of myself and the RC community to do so.

The body of the mount was formed via a mold taken from the cavity of the mounting area and reverse engineered. The result was a snap type fit into the mounting cavity with a 1 piece billet design.I also include 3M mouting tape for both the gyro and heli side of the mount.Total weight without mounting tape is 4 grams.

Pride alone should keep someone from doing something like this! The heli community is tight and they call out when something is wrong!

Thanks for your support sleddog and everyone else!

Here is my post from when someone notified me of the Ebay listing.

Rick,

I too have a milling machine and could have easily knocked it off.

But there is no way I'd ever do that, as it's just plain wrong.

Good Luck!

I dont want to judge or get into this arguement so you all can decide that. BUT I do think a little history here might be in order.

I came up with the idea of mounting the gyro under the Trex450 over a year ago. I had pictures and detailed instructions for HOW to make the mod and it was posted on RR but as you all know all that information was deleted. I did it by grinding the frames a little and flipping the boom block on the SE so it had a flat surface (no need to do this on the plastic block). People didnt like the idea of dremelling the frame. Rick took that idea and with my support invented the gyro mount design and idea! Others had many other ideas but Ricks was the best and cleanest.

Since then he has been the only one making them and they are on hundreds of helis and even sold by vendors like Readyheli etc.

Anyway Rick WAS the first to come up with this idea... I know I was there....

I dont think this guys "design" is really different just the material. You all can be the judge if it is a rip off or not. I wont get in that arguement but I did feel you all should know how the thing came into existance.

jgeorgic PM'ed me to send me one to look at so I will give it a fair look but I did tell him I support Rick as it was his idea. jgeorgic was OK with that and still wanted to send me one.

I freely admit I "stole" Rick's idea and milled up a similar mount out of acrylic. "Billet" acrylic if you will. Mine also "snaps" into place with a friction fit. No molding or reverse engineering. I simply measured then milled.

The thought of making a bunch and selling them online never even occurred to me.

excuse me, but i think you are stupid, thinking this is an "unique" design... i built myself the same thing long before rdlohr showed his version... what is it with you people? it's not rocket science we're talking about. it's a piece of plastic! you don't have the patent for the design, do you? and jg's design is an IMPROVEMENT of the design.

*edit* also, he does mention the rdlohr design as "being the first". it's up to us which one we prefer.

This same sort of thing happened to me when I was manufacturing cf blades for the Ikarus Piccolo. The website was www.carbonblades.com. To make a long story short, soon others were making cheeper knockoffs. Helihobby was even selling them using a picture of my blades. What could I do?

Fixed pitch has all but gone away. So, that business is dead now anyway.
