Here's a Progressive Sidekick case that I put together:

I like to use the deck to keep the batteries from hanging over the sides of the case when I'm charging.

Although not shown, there's a 350W power supply below the deck.

The Bumpcharger case is awesome for High power charging but can be a little big and heavy for quick trips to the field with smaller heli's or planes. The new Neutrino case from ProgressiveRC will be awesome addition for lower power needs.....I've had it a few months now and it's a fantastic little case at a great price.

Super small and powerful... I plug in A/C or pop off the charger and charge off my car battery..... canít beat the versatility for a compact powerhouse....

I love my Bumpcharger case as well but I only bought the single-charger one and I'd love to upgrade to the double. Unfortunately their site has been down for a while, has anyone heard from those guys lately?

Hey All.

Here is the last case I finished and is now ready for the customer to collect.

Coolice Charge Case for George Jones (24 min 8 sec)

Latest build under way and is going to be weather proof, with a waterproof AC plug/socket and custom cooling fan holders and shrouds to keep rain out when in the field.

I spoke to rotorcraftrc on the phone last October, they were swamped and told me to email them and they'd get back to me. I've emailed rotorcraftrc twice with my bumpcharger deck designs and never got a response.

I haven't spoken with them in years but when I was shopping for cases they were easy to reach and responded quickly. I had all of my own components and was just looking for a custom case to put them in....they quoted me around $900 for case only....too rich for my blood so I went with the bumpcharger.com for a fraction of that and have been very happy.

Default Bumpcharger.com site

The website says they'll reopen soon... that message was posted over a month ago. Hoping it's true. Would like a new deck.

right, well I had a bumpcharger.com made deck, but I changed chargers so wanted a redesign, but they're not doing that anymore.

Hey Buddy.

If you struggle to get a custom machined deck give me a shout, email; [email protected] as I can machine you a new deck to your design or other.
I have a CNC router and laser cutter which I use for my charge case build decks. I am in the UK which effects postage, but I could be an option.

Default Mounting Options for chargers and power supply in Hard Case

All nice cases!

So to pick all of your brains for a minute, how did everyone secure your chargers & power supply to the bottom of the case?

I have a Pelican 1485 Air Case and for several years, used heavy duty 2" velcro in the bottom to secure them and a Meanwell 2000W PSU.

A few times every year however, the chargers shift in the case and I have to wedge some firm foam in there to keep them from moving (or pull them out and re-attach them).

I'm getting tired of them shifting and needing to remount them. Any suggestions on securing them better?

I know the best way would be screwing them down (putting holes in the bottom of the case). The problem is I really don't want to put holes in the case.

Also, I do not have a top lexan deck mounted as I prefer to let as much air as possible circulate inside the case.

What have those of you with cases done to mount your chargers if not using a deck on top?

Any and all suggestions welcome.

I use the heavy duty velcro (black and white box) from menards. Nothing has ever moved using that stuff.

Iíve used both that same velcro as well as the grey heavy duty from Progressive.

I guess the issue is that I donít have enough velcro on the bottom of the chargers (theyíre not flat on the bottom). I was only putting it on the areas that make contact with the top of the Meanwell (which is pretty small).

I think I have one 3/4 inch wide strip and one 1/2 wide on the bottom of the Power Labs.

The velcro that came with my Progressive case started to peel at the corners after a season. Tore it all out and only use the stuff I mentioned.

I use the heavy duty velcro - glue a large strip of hook Velcro on top of the Meanwell and use a large strip of loop velcro to attach the PSU to the bottom plate of case.

My only concern is if I ever have to take it off from there. The Velcro I use is so bloody strong!

Thanks, guys.

I've used the heavy duty 2" velcro from Home Depot before. It was not the most permanent, but it was over 10 years old so maybe the adhesive wasn't too good anymore.

On this charging case, I used the grey Progressive velcro on the bottom of the case, Meanwell RSP-2000-24, DPL8 and PL8.

It's still not strong enough.

I just bought a new box of heavy duty black & white 2" from Home Depot a few weeks ago. I will try replacing the grey stuff with the new stuff.

Something tells me I'm going to have to have more surface area with velcro on the chargers though. I'm not sure how I'm going to do that without restricting the airflow underneath them.

Maybe 3m DualLock?

I prefer to bolt my hardware but that makes things trickier.

It's not the velcro itself that's failing.

It's the whole tape pulling off the object.

I could glue it down, but that would be almost as bad as drilling holes and bolting it.

I'm thinking about making some kind of bracket to screw the chargers to. Then, I could but ample velcro on the bracket.

Not sure about the peeling off on the bottom of the case, but maybe the new velcro will hold better.

I guess dual lock is an option. I've used that a lot in the past and it's great stuff. I'd have to buy quite a bit of it though if I was going to line the bottom of my case and all the other stuff.
