If you have the room, scroll up for some ideas on storing in the underside of your lid. That's where all mine go. Balance cable extenders help a lot also.

The more I look at your charging case the more I like it. Where did that plastic shield over the PSUs come from?

Kona, on the inner part of the top case you have that elastic material running around some plastic knobs that are attached to the case. Two questions, what are those knobs, are how are they attached?

I built it out of a piece of textured ABS from TAP Plastics. I clamped it to the metal table of my bandsaw, heated it with a propane torch, and bent it to 90 degrees with a 2x4. The Pelican case has built in supports for the shelf and magnets glued to the bottom of the plastic hold it to the power supply.

Why on earth(pun intended) do you have a portable generator grounded?

Itís for grounding the equipment that the generator powers. Might as well make that third grounding wire useful.

Edit: looks like thereís quite a bit of info online as to whether grounding is needed. My instruction manual seemed to indicate it was. Got some reading to do I guess.

Default Post your charger case

So this ones pretty crude, likely not what most people come to this thread to see, but Iím excited about it, after a little experimenting with other options. I do have a couple much more elaborate cases I made but I wanted the most compact yet versatile setup I could get, for charging Logo 200 packs when occasionally traveling. I think I achieved that.

My specific goals were:
-charge up to 6 Logo 200 packs in parallel at 1C or higher
-small enough I can throw it in a pocket or bag to carry hands-free into hotels and doesnít take up much truck space if I leave it in the truck
-cheap enough and low enough effort to build that I wonít be heartbroken if it gets stolen out of the truck at a hotel overnight (the heli and Transmitter go to the room with me)
-both AC and DC power source so I can use it in the truck or hotel/office, etc.

It works great for all those things. Fits in cargo pants pocket or laptop bag. can charge on my center console while driving. I can charge 6 logo 200 packs at greater than 1C, or a couple Gaui x3 or Goblin Buddy packs if I decide to haul a bigger heli around. Got less than $100 in the whole setup, if you figure the ISDT 608 charger that came with the power supply stays at home.

I keep being tempted to make it a more monolithic unit where I donít have little bits that could fall out and get lost, like everythingís mounted somehow but then it would quickly start to defeat the goal of being cheap and simple.

Thought Iíd share, it was tough for me, to piece something together with no fluff, from a specific goal-oriented standpoint and resist the urges to load it up with bells and whistles. I donít do moderation well, but Iím aware of that and try to strive for it ;-)Click image for larger version

For the power ON switch, are you guys using a "straight" switch connection or a relay switch?

No switch here, the power supply goes on when it's plugged in or the generator is started.

Yeah, just unneeded point of failure IMO. I know some people prefer to have a switch, but for me, I don't mind just... unplugging it when I'm done.

I use relays as part of a custom designed protection circuit which is designed to safe guard my charger and the PSU against damage when any of the following events happens:

(a) High amp spike
(b) High inrush current
(c) Power outage causing unexpected PSU shut down
(d) Under voltage protection
(e) Over voltage protection
(f) Over temp shut down gauged by 7 probes

Basically you turn the power switch on and the protection circuit takes charge powering the fans; after 5 seconds the PSU is powered and then a few seconds later it powers both chargers.

The beauty part is that if the power goes off or any of the above mentioned incidents happens, the relays resets so when the power comes back on the PSU and charger don't automatically turn on which means I can disconnect the batteries if any are on, turn off the charger and restart everything afresh so I can make sure everything is ok first. The fans, however, are kept turned on so you still maintain cooling.

I gave it some thought. I opted for a simple "in-line" illuminated switch. It is a C20 size, so it should be able to withstand more current than the more common C14 size adapater used with most charging cases I've seen.

Yes I have one box with a 6S 10,000mAh LiPo

I used for a purpose other the heli Its for the Jets RX and ECU batteries, charge up its good for a at least a 3 days of recharging a jet or 2 ...

It also has a small power supply to used instead and to recharge the LiPo inside.
