i guess that it won't be 40% in my futaba 8fg?

2200~2250rpm smack

Still moves surprisingly quick at low headspeed with the amount of available pitch and BeastX. Blue light at 5.6~5.7* Step J Outer holes on servo arms.

Aile/Ele servo arms are 90* relative to links, NOT frame. Using 90* relative to mainshaft ends up causing binding in the negative pitch region with the amount of pitch I'm using.

Trac-X/Compass FBL head. Lowest mounting position. 550/600Pro Mainshaft.

Good info, especially on the 90 degree setting.

90 deg to the link is correct in all cases rather than 90 to mainshaft/frame

For a more docile setup, use transmitter mode, and set your D/R to 70-80% and use 30% expo. You can also set your channel endpoints for ail and elev to 70-80 to achieve the same result but D/R can be turned on and off in flight.
The MB, like most FBL units, controls the roll and pitch rate like a HH gyro. You tell it how fast you want it to roll and it does what it needs to to achieve the result. As with the HH tail, you command the rotation rate with the channel endpoints.

I have a 500, 600N and a 700E. I have them set up in TX [email protected]% D/R and all 3 of them roll and pitch at the same rate. I have normal and TH mode setup with 80% D/R for take off and landing.

I used the area up front where Align says to mount the 3gx. The out of box setup with the Control Behavior set to sport is very tame and easy to handle. I'd suggest giving that a try.

T-Rex 450 Sport, RJX head

cyclic - DS410M, inner hole on stock arms
tail - DS420
stock motor
stock Align ESC
Futaba 7C, R617FS

All parameters and settings default

pot 1 - 8 oclock(might go back as I play with head speed, see below)
pot 2 - 9 oclock(default)
pot 3 - 9 oclock(default)

BTW, this is my first and only heli. Flown for one year before taking the FBL plunge. Has anyone found that Beastx/RJX likes higher minimum head speed? I need to rethink my Normal Mode head speed, because it flies so much better in Idle Up 1. My FB logic was lower head speed in Normal Mode for nicer hovering. Of course, FBL changes that logic...

Anyway, now I think I understand what FBL fans mean when they say the 450 flies like it's bigger when converted to FBL. It even looks/presents differently(and better) in the air. Hard to describe, but simple maneuvers like stall turns just have a nice sense of inertia/stability. It doesn't 'flit around', which is why I took the plunge in the first place

And it's quieter in the air?!

what does it do wrong at a lower HS, and what is the HS?

I don't recall my head speeds offhand, but at lower head speed, the heli makes a chattering/jittering noise, which it did not do when it was still FB. Sounds very similar to the sound the tail makes when the tail gyro gain is too high, as the tail oscillates rapidly. But in this case, the tail is fine. At lower head speeds, the heli also seems less stable and 'more nervous' with FBL compared to FB. In idle up 1, this mostly goes away.

are you running in Align governor mode? If so, disable it and try curves.

the chattering can be governor, it can also be cyclic gain set too high. A lower HS means the servos have to move farther to achieve the commanded rate/correction. You may also notice more bogging in hard maneuvers

My understanding is that FBL helis generally can accommodate a lower headspeed than their FB counterparts. Sounds to me like there is something else going on here such as a governor issue as previously suggested.

Michael503, I am running in governor mode. I do not wish to revert back to running curves, as I really prefer the feel and response in governor mode.

Aramb, the cyclic gain is set to default(see my settings post). When it was still FB, I selected my governed speeds to minimize(idle up 2) or eliminate(idle up 1) any bogging during hard maneuvers. These Idle Up speeds continue to work well now that it's FBL.

I think you're suggesting the ESC itself may be the issue, right? That's means what I'm hearing is not servos or associated linkage/blade noise, but the motor itself. If so, I'll take a look through other threads for the signs of a bad or failing ESC. This one's a year old, but I don't know what expected life spans are.

I recently switched to Gov mode on my CC esc on my 700, and it chatters like a tail servo if the gain is to high and the tail gets unloaded, such as in a counterclockwise sliding turn.
Try disabling gov and see if it fixes it. At least you'll know where it is or isn't coming from.
