Helping out a neihbor boy with heli
I bought an Esky 2.4Ghz red Dauphin coast guard looking heli from a guy for $20. The boy who lives accross from me has helped me watch traffic while doing spool up on my 600 and 450 and I told him I would buy him his own heli. I have everything that came in the original kit but I have a question about the blades. They sell "upper" and "lower" blades. The look to be the same to me. Are they? I need some blades as the guy before chopped them off in a crash. Thanks

They are not same. If you pay close attention to the top and bottom blades, you'll notice that the top blades are marked A and bottom blades are marked B. Use the text as a reference direction. They are designed to spin in opposite directions so the pitch of the blades is different, which becomes obvious when you point them all in one direction and observe carefully. Here (warning, large file size) is a picture of a pair of top and a pair of bottom blades.
Dauphin is yet another Lama derivative and uses same type of blades. You can get original E-Sky blades in single pair or 3 pair sets. I personally am fan of the 3-pair set because the original blades chip and break easily. There are also several types of "improved" third party blades, some of which are supposed to be more resistant to crashes and should offer better performance. |
