Default The Minimalist

Specs
Motor: C05M
ESC: Aeolian XP-7A
"Blue-Wire" Steve convertor
Pinion: 8T
Lipo: Spyder 250mah
Headspeed: 4986 @ 100% flat TC
Battery voltage: 3.78V after 3:30 minutes
Stock tail motor and blades (version 1) with 13 cm solid CF boom
70% travel adj on pitch
MH swash

I love the brushless conversion, definitely increased the fun factor! No more walking (flying) on eggshells. Tail blowouts are minimal even with V1 motor, tail blades, and short tail boom (I'll explain later why). It will blow out if I really push it though, especially very fast backwards flights. I'm still not comfortable with inverted flights yet, I always end up crashing when I do. Flips and rolls aren't so touchy anymore and loops are a breeze!

I wanted to tap the main power for the ESC before the main board so I spliced and soldered into the main wires to the battery connection. I believe this gives the tail more usable power minimizing blow outs. It seems to me that soldering the ESC to the main board creates a bottleneck for the current. That's my theory.

The "yellow" wire!

sr120 tail mod with 4g3 prop
Astroid Designs carbon frame brace

What made you start using the 12t pinion? Would the flight time with that pinion be bad with a turnigy nano?

You have short flight times. I am using the sr120 batteries 500mah. I get around4½ mins
It is turning up about 7000 rpms. Now my other mcpx is turning up 5500 rpms and I get 6½mins out of it.

Have a blessed week
Isaac

I don't understand a single word of German.

My HP05s powered helicam =D
work in progress, powering the camera off the heli battery appears to give too much voltage drop and messes with the camera recording.

Default 2S CC10 powered mCP X

This helicopter is extremely powerful, but the great Phoenix 10 governor can tame the behavior while maintaining a constant low rpm.
At full speed it's a rocket.

Look at the 2S Hyp 180 mAh battery holder from Astroid.

The Astroid Design in-line 120SR tail motor holder. It work really nice.

Dylan, the fin is too short for this tail holder. We need a longer one.
