Or buy the Copterx 3x-1000 with the programming box from ehirobo and get it over with in one fell swoop.

I have 2 x Beastx, 1 x Tarot ZYX, 1 x Copterx 3X1000, 1 x ALZRC 3GYS - the last 3 are fundamentally all teh same unit. They are not as good as the Beastx currently, but the Beastx has been out for over a year and is on V3 software and it is about 6 times as expensive as the cheapest of these 3 (the Copterx).

Personally I think that the Copterx / Tarot / ALZRC is a good unit, not as good as the Beastx admitedly, but for me (and at the price) the question is not "is it as good?" but "is it good enough?" - for me the answer is definitely YES, for my bank balance and my level of flying - YMMV

Talking

Bought three Tarot FBL units last week. This weekend, I maidened my first Tarot FBL on an old 450 V2 beater of mine. If flew really good with stock settings!

For the first day of testing, I did stall turns with some backwards tail slides, FFF, side ways sliding, inverted, inverted backwards hurricanes and hurricane figure eights.

Small photo album of my setup:

https://www.helifreak.com/album.php?albumid=8116
  • T-Rex 450 (frame)
  • Tarot FBL head
  • Align DS410 plastic gear servos for cyclic
  • Hitec HS-5084 metal gear tail servo
  • Hitec Aurora 9 radio
  • Turnigy Typhoon 450H motor (3450kv)
  • Turnigy Nanotech 3s2200 battery
EDIT: forgot to mention that the postings on this thread really helped out with setups. Especially the discussions for checking the pirouette compensation and getting the heli up high to test it out.

Received my copterx 3x1000.. brought it to work tonight to have a play with menus on the controll box... however, jsut sits there with "Hello. Loading data"..

Manual says check data cable and make sure gyro is in working mode..

by working mode - does the gyro have to be hooked up to a bound receiver to work with the box?

I'm hoping that's the reason otherwise I may have issues Can anyone quicly confirm if the 3x1000 needs to be connected to receiver and working in order to load the menus on the control box... just so I don't sit here at work all night worrying... lol

Yes. The gyro won't initialize if it does not have a signal on the tail gain input.

The programmer without the box is now down to $29 on ebay, or lower, if you are prepared to bid.

ok - i've confirmed my 3x1000 is working and just needed to be connected to the RX to work with the programming box..

But i'll be daft if I can find where to change the swash servo type - the box and manual only has tail servo type... so does that mean the swash is fixed to one frequency that suits both analog and digital?

How have others configured swash servo type - or you havn't... ???

Well it pays to read the manual I guess..

It seems that when using the sticks to program you can change the swash servos to/from digital/analog in the SYSTEM menu STEP-3

However - it appears that there is NO WAY to set swash servo type using the programming box... how strange.. I would have thought you could do everything plus more using the programming box ???

The 3GYS manual says that setting the tail servo to 250Hz, sets the cyclic servos to analog and setting the tail servo to 333Hz or high, sets the cyclic servos to digital.

So the Tx setting of Tail digital, cyclic analog is the 250Hz setting and the tail digital and the cyclic digital is the 333Hz setting.

Well - the 3x1000 came default all analog..

I set the tail to 1520-333hz using the control box and the cyclic remained on analog setting.. so the 3GYS may be a little different in that aspect to the 3x1000..

Using the control box to set the tail servo type didn't appear to effect my cyclic servo setup on the 3x1000..

Using the sticks on the 3x1000 and in system menu step 3 - it allows you to step through a limited tail/cyclic combination of A/A A/D D/D etc for the servo choices..

However, I may play a little more to see if i'm not correct as i didn't try every combination..

Here are the 3X1000 Stick options from the manual:
=====================================

*Yellow, 1 flash: All the tail and swashplate servos are
1520us analog.(default)
*Yellow, 2 flashes: Tail servo is 1520us digital,
swashplate servos are 1520us analog.
*Yellow, 3 flashes: Tail servo is 1520us digital,
swashplate servos are 1520us digital.
*Yellow, 4 flashes: Tail servo is 760us digital,
swashplate servos are 1520us analog.
*Yellow, 5 flashes: Tail servo is 760us digital,
swashplate servos are 1520us digital.
*Yellow, 6 flashes: Tail servo is 960us digital,
swashplate servos are 1520us digital.

There is nowhere in the Controller box that replicates these settings unfortunately..
Maybe next firmware level? if the controller is flashable?

What mounting tape are you using? On my beastx, I am using the 3m 411 tape and it works great.

Would this gyro benefit with this tape also. Has anyone tried it? I want to try this gyro on my 450pro.

This gyro seems to like pretty stiff tape. I use 2mm Fusuno gyro tape.

Have you read the CX-PB001 manual. It very clear and just the same as the 3GYS manual:

Doh! no, I completely missed that in the controller manual for some reason..

AAARRRGGGHHH -

Thanks for that... all's cool now

Seems no matter how many times I look at a manual I always manage to miss something..
