Default Throttle Hold to Connect

I'm not sure what I've done but when I turn my Tx on (low stick), throttle hold off then connect the battery to the heli, the ESC will beep repeatedly and not recognise the Tx until I switch throttle hold on, then it'll do a couple beeps and it's ready to go.

It never used to do this. Does anyone know why it does this and how to stop it? Thanks for your help.

What ESC? What TX?

Sounds like TH is lower than low stick (in normal mode). Can you post your TX settings (throttle curve and TH setting).

Most here (me included) fly idle up, so low stick is not low throttle.

Your ESC may (or may not) calibrate to your TX throttle range. My X5 does, my 700 does not.

The ESC is seeing throttle at bind and the safety is not letting the motor start up.
Check and see where the throttle trim on your transmitter is set.
If it is not all the way down. Move throttle trim all the way down and the problem should go away.

I'm using a DX6i and HK 25A ESC. Both the low stick and TH are set at zero in normal.

I suppose that by having to switch to TH to bind it's making me play it safe and there won't be any chance of accidental throttle on battery connection.

Check if you have the Throttle reversed?

Ok this is getting even more weird. I had a crash last week and after putting everything back together (bent shaft and stripped main gear) I went to test it out. Now the heli spools up at low stick. It's never done that before. I've had to set throttle subtrim to -52 to stop it going at low stick.

Does anyone have any thought on why this would happen?

Oh, and also the motor won't beep in start up. It turns so I'm hoping it isn't broken.

Is my heli haunted???

HK 25A ESC is a very basic ESC (does not calibrate endpoints).

DX6i is one of the most basic of RC transmitters (probably a good thing).

Motor should beep on power on, so I suspect the motor or the ESC is bad.

On DX6i, for hold 10 is the new 0. (bug with DX6i).

I'd try re-binding to see if signal from DX6i is getting correctly to ESC. I'd also re-test the fitting of the plugs into the RX and the servo movements vs the DX6i monitor screen.

Best of luck. Us HFers will help where we can. Brisbane is a little far for a house call
