Default My helibug 700 puh build

Been wanting a gasser for a while so I decided to do a trex 700 conversion. There is so much stuff available for the 700 it just seemed like a good way to go. I ordered a helibug kit and found a donor 700 for the project. The motor is a converted boat motor switching it over to air cooled. It is a RCMK 26cc lower and I chose it for its fully machined mounting surfaces and the 4 crank bearings. Here are a couple of pics that show the first stage of the build and that was to fit everything up and see how it looked and fit and to get a feel for the best way to put it all together. I have been able to get a lot more done I just need to get pics of the progress.

Hi Jimmy, looks good your build. Mine is nearly finished now and I will post some new pictures during the next days. The last things I need to do on my build is mounting the shroud, doing the fuelline and the setup in my sender. As I wrote in my tread I go flybarless and I have installed a Beastx together with the Align FBL head. What is your opinion of the kit?

Cheers
Jörn

Kit has been good. I send them some feed back on adding a couple of things to the website about what else you need to complete the kit. My donor heli had carbon push rods for the tail so they both ended up to short and I needed to order a new kit to make them up. I made some more progress over the weekend and will post more pics tonight.

Just my opinion..but I would remove that align filter T from the fuel line.

You should have a fuel filter on your fuel pump or gas can, then you should have a filter clunk in the tank plus there is a prefilter inside the carb. Having that additional filter/restriction probably isn't necessary...and I don't really trust it with Gas. It might be perfectly fine...but one less thing to go wrong when it isn't really needed is a good thing.

Again, just my opinion.

Looking good.

I had an Align straigh (2-way) fuel filter on my fuel can. After one month the hard plastic had turned to rubber-like bendy and gooey stuff. I could literaly stretch the filter and bend the in/outlets 90 degrees without braking them. Yep, Align filters do not like gas.

For right now it's a place holder for a T. I thought I had a couple but no luck on finding one unless I rob one off one of my boats. Gonna order more when I order the carb block and the CNC big bore top end. Just waiting on the cylinders to get in for the air cooled motors.

Hi Jimmy, how goes with your build? Have you finished yet? Have you been in the air with your heli? I am totally bombed at my work so I havn't had time to finish my 700G yet but the only thing I need to come out to fly is the trottle link and setup. Head and tail is allready setup. Would like to know how your trottle curve is and how you break in your engine. Cheers Jörn

Been swamped with work and also took a week off so I am way behind on getting this finished. I have been talking with a few guys over on runryder about base line curve and there is some good info over there on this subject. The last things I have to to do is finish the pipe and mount the governor. Then set everything up with the radio. Gonna be another couple of weeks before I can get back to it the way it is looking.

Well, I picked up the torch on this bird to get her flying.

Hopefully I can begin the break in process soon.
